"I have deprived your ship of power, and when I swing around, I mean to deprive you of your life. But I wanted you to know who it was who had beaten you."

I was anticipating having some issues right after the renters moved in, but not this many. I gave them the key on Friday. I get a call an hour later saying there's a snake in the basement. WHAT? I've never seen a snake inside a house, let alone in a cold basement in the spring. So I go over a fix that only to have them tell me the frig isn't working. Grrr. I call a rapair man and he fixes it Saturday. Then Sunday, I get a call saying the shower has no hto water, btu the rest of the house does. I managed to catch my dad on a metally clear day so he went over and fixed it...kinda. The water is hot now, but not super hot. He needs to snake the lines today to get some of the calcification out of the lines. I hope that after this rash of crap, that it will be smooth sailing.
We'll work on opening Streets of Gothom when actions come in.
I think the mafia forum is effectively dead during the weekends.
Indeed, we're comparing notes and hammering out actions.

If he needs to snake the lines, could he use the snake that was already in the basement? Seems very efficient.
Yeah, that's something you should probably have a frank discussion on instead of assuming. Kids, too.
Oh we have had them, on both topics, but her stance has changed a few times on most everything under the sun. There are some psychological issues that we're both aware of that need addressing, because she's a completely different person one day from another.
Kids, though, she's staunchly against, and that hasn't changed. I'm indifferent. I think I'd be a terrible father, so I'm good with it.

Indeed it is. I remember when I was growing up, I felt that it was the church of open-mindedness. I remember when other denominations kinda made comments about how LCMS was kinda stuck-up and unwilling to play with others, I thought we were being stuck-up because we didn't want to shift more to the right. I don't think I understood church politics at all when I was young.

My dad is a Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod pastor. Those two groups kind of have a blood feud. I get your dilemma Thawmus. I lived with my wife for two months before we got married and we didn't tell until several years later.
Bottom line, it's your life. And especially if you go to the courthouse right now, the angry side of your dad should stem more from his lack of attending the wedding, not getting to meet her, etc...
I'm not going to touch the switching of positions, I figure you guys can handle that.
In slightly crappy news, I reffed a soccer game today, went to Chic-Fil-a, then get home and find out my son has a temp of 102.3. Poor guy feels bad, but the last time he had a fever, it ended up running through our whole family.
In retrospect, I find it hilarious that LCMS people think ELCA and Wisconsin Synod people are crazy, and vice versa, when I think they're all crazy.

It's going well, but we're hitting a rough patch. She's changed rather dramatically in the past month or so, not necessarily for the better, and we've both recognized that she is suffering from depression. She apparently is this way every Spring and Summer. I'm being as supportive as I can, but her lack of health insurance is hurting her right now in a big way. She needs to get back on Welbutrin and talk to a shrink about some things that have happened to her in the past year or two, and she can't afford any of it.
And after one week of staying at her place as a "trial run", we agreed that it worked out great, but now she wants to give us some more time before we make the big move. I'm fine with that. A little confused with the dichotomy of "I'd go to the courthouse with you right now if you wanted to," and "We're not ready to move in together yet," but I'm fine with it.
EDIT: On the upside, and definitely related to her other issues, she was addicted to sleeping pills for 13-14 years, until she met me. I was really really alarmed that she was taking them that regularly, and insisted that she stopped. So she slowly weened herself off of them, and has been without them for over a month.
However, this has likely not helped her depression, and without a doctor's visit (which she can't afford), we don't really know if she's suffering from withdrawal or not.

Like I said Thawmus, blood feud. ELCA, WELS, and LCMS all do not like each other. They bad mouth each other more than they badmouth non-Lutheran denominations in my experience.
Sucks about the health insurance situation for you and the lady friend. How much would the medication cost out of pocket? I'm guessing it'd be cost-prohibitive, but maybe necessary. I know there are some insurance plans out there for around $100 a month. I don't know how good they are, but if you moved in, that may free up some money to purchase insurance and get some psych care and appropriate meds. Just a thought, though it may put you guys through the ringer in the process.

You'd think. Give that snake a job. Make him earn his keep.

Sorry about the rough patch, man. Good thing is that you seem like you've got a level head and are figuring things out slowly but surely. Keep at it, man.

Welcome to Property Management and everything that comes with it. Sorry that you are dealing with it, but it comes with the territory. I can't deal with it, hence I pay a company to do it for me. Peace of mind money = excellent, even when it makes me brokey-broke.

That was actually my main motivation for moving in. I wanted her to be able to afford some things she currently can't.

I'm going to tough it out for one lease cycle if I can. I think once they find everything that's wrong with the place in the first few weeks, I can fix it and relax a bit. It's just stressful right now. This is only temporary.

Heh, I'm trying to hold out for Double Donor Days, but the ads are rather annoying. Do any of our mods know when the next DDD is? Is it quarterly, semi-annual, or annually done?
