Knight, do you mean the hero's trainer was actually called "the Ancient One" in the original comic, or was retroactively stated to have been the Ancient One in disguise? I seem to recall a story where it was said that the Tibetan lama who trained Dr. Droom was the Ancient One in disguise, training him as a "backup" to Dr. Strange. (Though how they reconcile this with their current policy that Dr. Strange was covertly active as a sorceror for 35 years before the current heroic age began, I don't know.)
Umm... a few years back, they changed Dr Strange's origin a bit. Like, the accident that robbed him of the use of his hands was a skiing accident.

Not sure what that has to do with Dr. Druid. But as I understand it, Marvel's current policy regarding Dr. Strange is that he was born in 1930 and his accident happened in 1963, and that he was covertly active as a New York-based sorcerer from that time until the debut of the Fantastic Four (around "thirteen years ago"), and then went "public" as a magic-using super-hero. If the Ancient One was training Dr. Druid as Strange's back-up, wouldn't that age Druid a bit?

What I meant is, they changed the time of when Dr Strange was born and became active. Let's just say, on his way to the Ski lodge, he drove a fairly modern car, built sometime around when you were already alive and kicking. With the sliding time-scale, it'd be roughly mid-70's when Dr Strange became a sorcerer.
And these changes took place in-continuty, when Doc Strange appeared in the Spider-Man issue where it was Pete's B-Day. I think it was issue #600. Spidey tried to help Doc against Dormammu because Reed Richards screwed up and created a portal that allowed Dormammu onto the earthly plane and so to banish him, Dr was about ready to sacrifice himself. Spidey mucked up that plan. They were both sent thru the time-stream to the very beginning of all things and worked their way back.
At the end, Mordo showed up, told Doc he screwed things up and now Mordo was going to take advantage of that fact. It was continued in a mini-series that came out about a year later. And that showed many of the changes in Doc's continuty.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but there was a goof in an early 90s issue of Dr Strange that gave a flashback to his kid sister's drowning death. It was supposed to have taken place when Doc was in med school, so likely about 10 years before he became master of the mystic arts. His kid brother was wearing a Spider-Man T-shirt.

Well, there you go. Spidey time-traveled far enough in the past to give Vic a nice t-shirt.
Sigh...I was trying to be more than a bit sarcastic about Vision being J'onn's long lost cousin (heck since J'Emm is from Saturn we could even say that the Eternals of Titan did the design plans for the Vision too)- sorry that didn't come across.
And yes JTR I was thinking of Dr Droom (though I keep trying to figure out if he really became Dr Druid or has that been changed again)...that said...the thread is yours bud.

And here I thought you weren't coming back till the morrow, since your wife beats you up and takes control of the computer so she can chat with her friends and buy pretty things from Pottery Barn on your credit card.

That said, I'll work on a new question.
LOL...actually the "play room" is not used on the weekdays since we have to go to work and it takes too long to properly set up the whips, psycho straps, and other acoutraments...as for shopping...never Pottery Barn...New York and Co.

Well, she could just tie you down to a chair and make you watch as she melts all of your clix down. Then you'd have to buy more on the black market. CuCr could fix you up with that.
While surfing through this fascinating discussion I noticed now the FF got started "thirteen years ago!"
OMG!
Not reading FF regularly since the early 70's (and starting around issue #22 in the early 60's) that comes as quite a shock to my aging system!
Just so I know, in terms of what currently passes for "continuity," how are they dealing with the 30 years or so of FF stories (not to mention Johnny and Ben in Strange Tales!) ??? Are these now "out of continuity?" Imaginary stories?"
What a world, what a world....

They're just saying that the FF stories that have been published over the last 48 years took place over a period of 13 years or so in "Marvel time". They ignore any topical references, like Ben and Johnny in Beatle wigs or references to President Jimmy Carter.

That's fine so long as they eliminate "topical references" moving forward -
like all the recent Obama covers!
And won't the 9/11 issues look like anachronisms in 20 years?
But they won't.
20 years from now a new group of geniuses at Marvel will be asking us to ignore current "topical references."
Can't they just wink at us and say "Hey, we know and you know it's a comic book book. Reed and Ben are vets of WW2, but they'll never reach 40 as far as our books are concerned, even though the war ended in 1945! And Johnny? He'll always be young, just like Spidey. Get used to it cause we are not equipped in any way shape or form to re-create the kind of characters and excitement that Stan Lee (and others) did back in the early 60's. We just aren't that good. And we don't dare retire anyone who sells books! We're run by big corporations now! So let's just wink, nod, and let it go."
What do you think?
