Hey, does that minimum 100 point thing includes feats or is it the model cost?
I didn't play the Sarge (some hurtful remarks about the good Doctor were thrown about in a wanton and unnecessarily antagonising manner, God only knows what shenanigans have erupted over the past weeks to 'scare players away' but hey, its Sgt Grimes, so the newbies are just gonna have to learn the drill) and I'm still able to play Thursday.
He does scare me though. I still can't look at Capt Marvel ('Capture' on 1st click) and not feel a little queasy.
Yeah its definitely got to be minimum 100 points before feats (so dial cost).
there's nothing wrong with playing a character you like every week you can, even if grimes and the others may make jokes about it. (I've used crisis Nightwing a lot)
Certainly Dr Strange would be a valid choice for this week's game.
Far as being afraid of Sgt Grimes goes just remember, he falls down after a junk shot just like any other man and its fairly easy to line up a solid blow under the table when he is sitting opposite you.
The main drawback of playing the same character regularly is that people will learn the easiest ways to take him down.
For example, if I was really woried about Dr. Strange I might play Wally West with Maneuver:

Human Tornado: Once per turn, Wally West can use a Force Blast as a free action.
Wally's Hypersonic Speed means that he can position to attack Dr Strange as long as there is at least one adjacent square. It doesn't even matter if he hits or not - the real aim is to Maneuver him out of the huddle, and then use Force Blast to throw him towards a wall or some blocking terrain. You can't use Protected against knockback damage! If Dr Strange was wildcarding Mystics then feedbacking Wally to his second click avoids the free Force Blast... but Dr Strange needs to take damage in order for Wally to be hit by Mystics, so I get what I want either way.
That's one easy combo; there are others. I don't normally build teams aimed at fighting one specific player, but if I wanted to do so against you, your regular use of the good Doctor might make it easier for me to get an effective strategy.
Hey, I like to use the good Doctor but I rarely EVER use him well. I have spent much of most games running him away which is something he is particularly good at.
I'm going out on a limb with my choices Thursday but, with 1000 points, Stevie is bound to show.
I honestly like playing the Sarge in a 'if it does not kill you it can only make you stronger' sort of way. I always learn something, the hard way.
I forgot to mention in the event description that colossal figures have been specifically disallowed for this tournament. (Only remembered tonight when I was looking at the Sinestro Construct for a Sinestro Corps team!)
Kieran came in first tonight, with a Skrull team that I believe he borrowed (from Sgt Grimes?) and played very well, considering he'd never seen most of the dials!
Next week, Thursday the 4th of February - Clash on the Streets!
200 point constructed tournament; four actions per turn.
Retirement is not in effect.
Two rounds, two battlefield conditions.
Any Questions?
Prize Support: LE #104: Son of Surtur, some LEs/uniques, and (if the Tin Soldier has any stock left) cracked boosters ($5 contribution from each player to cover booster costs).

Fan the Flames: At the beginning of your turn, roll a d6 for each opposing character adjacent to one or more friendly characters named Fire Demon. On a result of 5 or 6, deal 1 damage to that opposing character.

Is Kieran a new player, or do I just not recognise the name?
I'm sure you've met; he's been out of the game for a few years. We also call him Blink.
Doesn't sound familiar, I may recognise him when I see him. Having said that, I didn't start coming to Tin Soldier until post Armor Wars, and I was at Sydney Games Centre only a few months longer. So it's possible he was from before my time.
