THAWM!! It was a trick question for Stan! Just wanted him to feel conflicted about digging li'l Alex and then relieved that it was okay for him to have those... feelings... for her.
And now we'll never know the truth.

I just found out my 3-yr-old has celiacs disease. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach.
Oh man, Stan, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know Pam should be able to help with information on that... but ouch. Not fun. Not debilitating, thankfully, and it is controllable... but sucks.
"Why would the possibility of me being wrong ever stop me from doing something?"

Definitely could be worse, but she's so young to be saddled with such a burden.

I am very sorry to hear this, Stan. However, look at it on the positive side. This is a disease that largely goes undiagnosed and makes people's lives difficult all the way into adulthood. Catching it this early means that you can start your daughter getting used to a gluten-free diet. It'll become second nature, it'll keep her healthy, and probably add years to her life.
Hang in there, Stan - best wishes to you and your family.

My best friend growing ups' little brother has celiacs. Its a bit of a pain when his friends' parents don't realize he can't have certain foods but there are plenty of gluten free things to eat. He can even have cookies and bread, his mom just has to buy a special type.
I guess what I'm saying is as far as incurable lifelong diseases go, this one's not such a big deal. You've got to be really careful about your kids' diet, especially at the start but overall things are gonna work out just fine.
Well, like I said in the other thread, speaking as someone who has to work with a specific diet, this sort of thing can suck. But, if it's something that can be resolved simply by watching what you eat, there are worse things.
Not a parent, so I can't speak to your pain, unfortunately. But she'll be just fine, and you're lucky that you found out about it so soon.
I didn't know I was hypoglycemic until a couple years ago, and that sucked. I've been passing out from lack of sugar for a long time now, and tied it to all sorts of stresses and fears. Sure wish someone had told me, way back when, to eat a ####ing doughnut.
She'll be just fine.
EDIT: Just be happy, knowing what it is. That goes such a long way toward helping her.

Thanks guys. Having moral support means a ton and I appreciate it all. Having done a bit more research into it before being totally emotionally burned out, I'm glad we caught it early. It can lead to some nasty cancer if it goes unchecked. Course now I have to get the rest of my family checked too and we all know how much I LOVE needles.

Honestly it will probably do that to the whole family as they switch with her to a mostly gluten free diet with her blessing in disguise

It's far too expensive to switch the whole family over right now unless it's absolutely necessary. Maybe when I'm not putting out $305 (food not included) a week for day care.
