If you've read the comics, you can actually bypass reading The Gunslinger if you want - at leas the flashback portions. You can just focus on the Jake / Waystation (?) parts, and the Marten part at the end.
I like to start from the beginning though is the thing...start to finish! You don't just take a box of cake mix and throw it in the oven -_-;
I think I read the Gunslinger in 5th Grade and finished the Dark Tower somewhere in College.
Sounds about right with me. I remember reading Wizard & Glass in my senior year of High school... the last three, I guess I read when I moved out to Cali.
"Why would the possibility of me being wrong ever stop me from doing something?"
*The Stars My Destination - one of my favorite books of all time, utterly horrid protagonist, but a fantastic story
*Dean Koontz's Watchers - still his best work. Phantoms is scary as hell, also recommend that
*Thomas Covenant: The Unbeliever - Been a loooong time since I read it, but like Stars, an utterly disgusting protagonist is balanced well with an excellent fantasy series.
*Neil Gaiman's Smoke & Mirrors - great collection of short stories, if you're a fan of that.
Not a Gaiman fan at all. I tried both American Gods and neverwhere and couldn't get through them. I should try the rest though.

New readers don't know how good they've got it.
Not a fan of King either. I tried to get into the Stand, but couldn't. I read the Gunslinger, and thought it was weak.
Had a nice weekend. Since it was Shaun's weekend off, we had Kara. I was a tad disappointed not to get any writing done, but between cooking for and playing with the ruffians, I was pretty much beat.
Ate a meatball last night without any complications and a teeny tiny piece of cake. Like, it was seriously the size of my thumb, lol.
Looking to be a busy week. Shaunie has his followup ear dr appt tomorrow after school. Hopefully his was has loosened so it can be extracted. Then Wednesday is his class trip to the Franklin Institute and I need to figure out what to bring with me for lunch. Leaning toward baby food.
What, am I normal or not?
Am I crazier than other patients?
Right, I've done everything right.
So where's the karma, doc? I've lost my patience.
And apparently I'm insane as well. In the fanfic fandoms, there are various charity events that people start up and get authors to donate a piece of writing to. Said compilation is then distributed to all of the people who forwarded a copy of their donation receipt to the people hosting the event.
I'll be hosting one benefiting Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry. I never realized how much work went into running one of these things. Oy.

No. Since he was a baby, his wax builds up at an insane pace. He was having ear pain a few months back, and his regular doctor couldn't do much, so we made an appt with an ENT. Took us two months to get in there, but thankfully his pain had passed after a few days.
We went in two weeks ago, and the doc couldn't see in his because his wax was impacted. We've been using this stuff called Debrox everyday for the past two weeks. So, hopefully they'll be able to get the wax out tomorrow.
If not, I have no idea what the next step would be.

Yea, I have to use Debrox every once in awhile. Think the loud noises at work causes waxy build up. Doesn't help that I have sensitive hearing in my ears
