Dude, you missed your calling!
That is a million dollar idea!
Seriously, you should work on Madison Ave!
"Remember kids, for over 2,000 years, every time you think wood you think Trojan! (available at all drug stores and better gas station men's rooms nationwide!)
Err... someone else already thought of it and used it some years ago. I believe it was used on an episode of The Simpsons. If I recalled, Homer Simpson was reading stories to the kids, and one was The Illiad (shortened to a few quick scenes).
The King of Troy accepted the gift of the large wooden horse and said (to the people) that line about getting wood and thinking of Trojans. I just can't recall the exact line.

I'm really sorry.
For a brief moment I actually thought you were creative and not just a cheap punster.
My mistake.
The Simpsons - how could i have missed that?

I'd feel insulted, but, you're old and are entitled to being grumpy.
With you, CuCr and Dizo around, I must say, it's nice to come here to visit all of you here on the old-folks thread.

Not every one is a fan of the show. I don't watch it often. I like the ones where they take a pre-existing story and do it their own way, like with the Halloween specials.

No offense meant, and yes, I am both old AND grumpy!
Re the Simpsons, I used to enjoy the show. It's just been on so long they have not only stopped being funny, they have started getting very political and very heavy handed at that.
I guess appealing to certain groups who will resonate with their vlumsy attempts at political satire in their minds replaces humor.
It's a shame.
I've stopped watching very often, but I think I caught at least part of the episode you were quoting.
Once again, sorry for mistaking an unattributed quote to creativity on your part.
I'll try to be more careful in the future.

Now, if I were going to say something totally original, I'd use my old joke about the golfers and the buttercups and Jesus. It's open ended and it's an old one of mine.
