So if the steal is successful, does that mean Dark X-Men lose their first round pick, and it goes to Tanis?

It just seems that if stealing is just allowed to happen whenever, it kind of lets a player with more RP bully the rest of the league, especially with a lot of players on the minimum start up.

Yeah, I'm going for the Fearsome Five. I hope I don't do too badly. I'm really excited to start playing in this league and make a lot of new friends in the process. I've been playing since Infinity Challenge was released, but I don't really consider myself a veteran. I expect a bad record my first season, but don't worry, I am not a sore loser and I'm just in it for the fun. Thanks for letting me be a part of this everybody!

Also, the opportunities for bullying are diminished by the fact that you need a thematic claim to a character in order to make an attempt to steal.

Unless you're counting things like putting Doom back in power, having Bullseye assassinate people, having Sentry kill innocent civilians - not just soldiers - at the Atlantean outpost in part to send a message to Namor, letting civilians die from a giant robot (dropping it on them) as it was more expedient, trying to remove a fetus from Tigra and an arm from Gauntlet, etc.

the 'thematic' claim helps keep the teams very varied as well. Pick an obscure team (or character) and you're more likely to be able to keep/use the characters that belong on that team.

Really? Wow. You missed all the fun times of Ares showing up with a mohawk and yellow and pink armour. He's been attacking Thor, Hercules, the Avengers, etc. since 1966.

His mini-series went a long way to justifying his actions and making him interesting and updated but a lot of that - except, say, having a son - seems to be ignored (at least personality-growth-wise) since his return to mainstream Marvel Universe (certainly his recent Dark Reign appearance in "War Machine" where he's just an outright evil nutso doesn't go with his development).
