"Hit them! While all of their efforts are on Starro!" the Crimson Avenger says leading the charge on Thor. Loki redirects her gunfire back at her with a magic toss. She leaps over it.
"Easier said than done," Icicle says trying to dodge all the blasts, "Forget this!". He constructs a wall around Thor. "At least that guy will be slowed down."
"Wonderful," Loki says as Starro continues to bombard his foes, "Thou hast protected my brother from Starro e'en better than I could have, well done."
"Big mouth for a guy with phallic symbols on his head," Dove says flying next to him, "Got something to prove pal?".
"Against thee, I think not. You will not last long enough for me to proof anything as it is," he says. Loki looks out to his allies. Black Widow, Rocket Raccoon and the last Blood Brother all are felled by Starro. He looks back and sees three allies coming in starting the battle anew, "Friends welcome. Work with me, will you, I am suddenly in the mood for calamari."
You’ve got me all confused about Starro now and where he’s at on his dial. Partly my fault for not reading through your previous turn thoroughly.
So first, every turn as a free action, he can pop out 1-4 Starrophytes (1D6 -2). Then at the end of every turn he can roll a 6 sided die. He regenerates that much, plus he may add 1 for however many Starrophytes he wants to soak up for that. He doesn’t have to roll to see how many he can reabsorb. As long as they’re in range he can absorb as many as he wants. So if you rolled 4 for the healing roll, and he had 4 Starrophytes, then he can heal 8.
Looking back though, I don’t see where you rolled to heal him on the previous turn. I don’t know if you just forgot, or if you didn’t think he could because he had two action tokens. He can do this every turn, no action needed, so doesn’t matter that he couldn’t take a regular action.
Where the numbers seem to be off though is, I pointed out at the beginning of my previous turn (Post 504) that I thought he should be showing 6 damage. Then I did 4 to him with Red Guardian. That should have put him at 10 by the end of that turn.
Your turn (post 506) you popped out 1 Starrophyte, but didn’t roll to heal him at all. But you still show him at 6 damage at the end of your turn.
There’s the first problem. I compounded it when I didn’t notice that at the beginning of my own turn. (I guess I assumed you rolled 4 to heal him and just didn’t write it in the post, thus cancelling out the 4 damage Red Guardian did.)
This turn is fine, I deal 9, you healed him 8 – 4 for the d6 roll, 3 for the starrophytes from this turn and 1 from the starrophyte from last turn. So that’s a net loss of 1 click.
So I guess to get on the same page with Starro, you need to roll a d6 for the healing roll you missed on the previous turn, but subtract from it the 4 damage that Red Guardian did this it doesn’t look like you recorded. Am I making any sense?
Not your fault at all, entirely mine. Too many details, I guess and mostly it's to my own detriment here. So you're saying Starro can heal a 6 sided die plus 1 for every starrophyte he wishes to sacrifice.
He rolls for last turn's healing as you suggest. A lucky-ish 5, -4 for Red Guardian's attack and he's up 1.
I get three replacements and need to do 12 overall to Starro to KO him. I think this could be done. First I have to deal with Dove. Which will be easy enough.
Actually, first first, I'm going to break theme a little and bring in Scorpio, replacing the Widow. I will not be going for the Key this turn. I have bigger fish to fry. So I will let you place it on your turn. Anywhere 5 squares from the starting areas.
Scorpio on Starro, AV10 on DV16. Gets 8. 2 to him after Toughness.
Armor now, simply Force Blasts Dove. Dove's in R8
Loki on Starro, AV11 on DV16. Gets 3. That's going to put a crimp in my plans.
Red Guardian on Starro, AV10 on DV16. Gets 5. Aw maaaaan!
Frost Warriors, 3 rookies. Per our rules I can only attack with 2, but hopefully that's OK.
First one, AV10 on DV16. Gets 6. 4 to Starro.
Second one, AV10 on DV15. Gets a 3. Oh for crying out loud!
I think I'll do Gamora, SI version. I think I'd better give her Lucky Break. Teleports to P9, chargse to L10, attacks Starro. AV11 on DV15. Gets 7. Chancing Blades. Gets 5. With EW. So 5 more to Starro.
11 to Starro. He's on his last click. And there isn't a thing I can do about it. And watch you heal him 10 next turn.
Frost Warriors! I'm so glad to see them. I really want to play those guys, too.
Also glad to see Scorpio. Always kind of liked him. He was in the Defenders for a bit and was a good baddie.
I don't like the whole key thing. The way we play the game I think whomever drafts Scorpio should. Placing the key in H10.
Cos tks Shazam to H9. Can he get the key? Rolls a 6. Really. What happens if/when Shazam is pitted? I'd say it's like a ko and he loses the key which someone else can get, what do you think? I still think the key's placement should be more to the drafter of Scorpio's advantage, he should at least be able to place it.
Jakeem on Angrborda. Needs 8, rolls 8. 2 to him/her.
Well even though you didn't ko Starro, that last click of his is crap. He rolls 2 starrophytes, or 1 total. Boo. Probably means this is his last hurrah. Heal roll is 1, even worse. He's up 2 but with that one good whack is all you'll need to finally finish him.
No reason not to push Icicle to copsicle the Frost Warriors. Seems kinda wrong to be able to ice the frost warriors but so be it. Baudi and Foljar are pushed, each taking a token and click. One token to Angrborda. Icicle's pushed also and free rides to H17.
"Your Starro is fading fast," Scorpio says to Dove as he lunges for her.
She easily evades him, "I'd worry a little more about myself, if I were you."
Captain Marvel blasts ahead and snags Scorpio's key. "Look what I found. I wonder what this does."
"My key...!" he says.
"Priorities, Scorpio," Loki says, "The giant starfish first."
"This ought to slow down you Frost Warriors," Icicle says covering them in a sheath of crystal-blue permafrost.
"Hahaha! How laughable! The ice warriors reside in a land of sub-zero temperatures. You gain nothing in this!" Loki says looking to see the three ice warriors having been slowed down by Icicle's effort.
I agree with Shazam dropping the Key when he gets pitted.
Also it takes 3 of Icicle's Barriers tokens to Incap someone. Only Baudi's adjacent to that many. Don't see that there's any way to get more than one of the giants.
Angrboda on Starro, AV10 on DV15. Gets 4. Oh how stupid this is getting.
Fjolvar on Starro. Also AV10. Gets 6. 4 after Toughness and Starro's out. Push to him.
Xavin to L11 to block replacement.
Gamora Charges to I8, KC roll is 6, so OK. AV11 on DV15 +1. Gets 7. Shazam PCs it to 8. He's in the Pit.
The Frost Giants fell on Starro, tearing it to pieces and tried to eat it, but the chewy texture of the Star Conqueror made it a little hard.
"Eat?" Baudi offered Gamora.
"Uh, no thanks, big guy," she said and slipped around the corner to surprise Captain Marvel, who was still admiring the Zodiac Key, managing to dispatch him before he could do anything with it.
I believe we didn't add objects for the last part of the game. Want to do so next turn?
Placing the key in G9.
Starro's out. Now what? with all those Asgardians you have a deadly force. Without Starro I got nothing.
Crimson Avenger vs. Thor. Needs 9, rolls 3. Let's have Jakeem reroll that: 8. Good but not good enough.
Dove to drag Scorpio? 5. Drags him to N4, she's O5.
I know I need to bring in some baddies, especially with what you got going there but I'm in a completist mood: enter Dr. Fate, the new one for kicks.
Dr. Fate gets ambidextrous. Cos tKs him to F9. He targets Scorpio & Gamora. Rolls 7. 2 to Scorpio then. Had to do it as he doesn't get a lot of love but that takes him off his outwit.
So it's my turn to draft Imperiex. Not quite sure he's 'all that' but we'll see.. He free moves to H16 and attacks Baudi. Needs 5, rolls 6. 4 to Baudi after toughness. He'll also outwit
Imperiex outwits Angrboda's charge.
Free move, Imperiex places his drills in L8, P12, V10.

"Order is required," Dr. Fate says, "Order is here."
"Dr. Fate!" Dove says carrying Scorpio, "So glad...".
A pure blast of heat runs through Scorpio but totally ignores Dove as she carries him. Scorpio becomes dehydrated...and emaciated....skeletal...before reverting back to himself. A weakened version of himself.
"...To see you," Dove finishes.
"You're welcome," Fate replies.
"What do we have here?" Imperiex adds as he sees the trio of Frost Warriors, "Fodder for me to destroy, it seems." He blasts a hole through Baudi who still stands but barely.
Thor on Imperiex, AV11 on DV19. Gets 10. Fate makes it 11. Impervious makes it a 2. Nice. 3 to IMperiex after Imperv.
Loki on Dove. AV11 on DV13. Gets 7. SS is 6.
Scorpio Breakaway? Gets 2. OK attacks Dove. I knew I should have just had Armor go for the KO on her two turns back instead of taking the easy out with Force Blast. AV9 on DV13. Gets 7. SS is 6.
Armor to P5.
Red Guardian Charges to I15 on Imperiex. AV9 on DV17. Gets 5.
"I know not from whence thou came, giant, but I am not intimidated by thy size!" Thor said, calling down a lightning strike at Imperiex.
"You have no idea what you are fighting. Countless worlds have fallen before me," Imperiex said.
"This is one world that will not fall. So says Thor!"
"Oh Brother, ever melodramatic," Loki said. Then he turned his attention to Dr. Fate. "You are an Agent of Order of some power. I hate order. Before I can get to you though, I must deal with your underling." He cast a magic bolt at Dove.
"Don't call me an underling," Dove said, lithely dancing through the air and avoiding Loki and Scorpio's attacks both.
