I live in Oklahoma. The best we have to offer in terms of a convention is the Horror Con in October. Other than that, I'm looking at Dallas for anything remotely within driving distance.

Dude, so sorry to hear. On the one hand, sometimes this kind of change is sorely needed in order to move to a better situation in life. On the other hand, given the poor national economy and the weak job market, this is never good news. Here's hoping that the positive will come to pass and that there is a bright future ahead, Tyro olde chum. (If you lived in the Washington DC area, I could probably throw an idea or two your way...)

Kedryn had all of the hotel info last time around. I think that he is the man with the plan this time around as well. And, as Pax stated, we did stay in the rainbow district. It felt very safe, for downtown Philly.

Also, I like the idea of booking Tazia. My only constraint in doing so is that I don't have money for a deposit and my lady wife won't take it well if I should use our credit card for that purpose. Other than that, I am all making sure that we have a venue for karaoke.

In other related news, I don't think that I will be involved with the HCR get-together and Quizzo this year. If it should happen, it's gonna be all AZS. Not that I don't enjoy the party, but I would rather save my voice for karaoke (plus, the event is a one-man show and I am not really up for it.) Thassall.

So I crossed the 10lb threshold in just over 2 weeks. Yay!

Dude! That is excellent news. I have not been able to get back on the weight loss wagon due to all of the stuff going on with my health, my wife's health, job-related stress, and stress from life in general. The good news is that we are getting through it and things at home might not be easier but they are certainly getting better.

Yesterday I tried to surprise my wife by getting her a new iPhone (since the battery in hers is shot) but found out at Best Buy that her account is not yet eligible for an upgrade. So instead I bought "Hugo" on blu ray and we wound up having a family movie night.

The kids enjoyed "Hugo", although it had its suspenseful moments (PG Rating). I gotta say that this was the first time that I had watched it, myself - and now agree with all of the Oscars that it received. It's a sweet, well-crafted story. Kudos to director Martin Scorcese.

And I gained it all!

Having been there and eaten the tacos, this is very true.

Although locally, Baja Fresh is a good place where you can buy some yummy grilled mahi-mahi or crispy fish tacos. I don't recommend the Cheesecake Factory ones, though. They are overrated and overpriced.

(And now I am officially hungry for fish tacos, darnit. )
