She also plays video games/board games, reads/collects comics, likes and is able to do work on classic cars, and can tell dirty jokes with the best of 'em.
To which I can only figure that they call you "Jessie" at your venue..?
Sorry, I won't be much help since, to me, when it comes to cosplay, almost EVERYONE is doing it wrong.
Some people just don't get into it or like it. I have never dressed up myself and probably never will because of my body size/shape, but I appreciate the people who put a genuine effort into it.

Same here. I never saw myself as one of those folks who would dress up and act out at midnight showings of "Rocky Horror," but I always enjoyed -- with few exceptions -- the effort and enthusiasm of ones who did. I thought it enhanced my own experience.
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!

It's not that I don't get into it or like it. I do.
I have a side business making appearances at parties and stuff as different characters.
But WON'T do Spidey unless I'm under 175 lbs.
Most of the fanboy/girl population isn't active enough to be wearing the costumes or they just don't fit the character that they are portraying.
So, for the most part, everyone's doing it wrong.
But I still love seeing it. And The Girl loves taking pictures of cosplay.
And we get to do a little MST on them between ourselves so it's all fun.
I was just warning you before I come in and start ripping people!
Feel free to post what you want. Just remember that not many people will EVER truly fit into a fictional body type. If you have any pictures to add, that would be even better.

That's generally my opinion as well. I used to wear an Obi-Wan Kenobi costume to Star Wars conventions when I was like thirteen, but since I grew out of that I got nothing. I do enjoy a Hallow'en probably more than the next guy, but I don't have the time or money to get really elaborate costumes. For the last three years I've just been wearing a rubber C-3P0 mask with something over that. Last year it was an eyepatch. The year before that it was an Alf mask.
This year I'd love to find a better costume, since a couple of my buddies really showed the rest of us up last year at the party when they showed up with pretty elaborate Top Gun costumes.
