Ooops, sorry guys, I somehow forgot that Instant Fusion can only fetch level 5 or lower fusions, so some of my examples won't work. My apologies. But still, it deserves some respect, I think of it as a spell version of Magical Scientist (same cost, almost same conditions).
If it weren't for the "only 1 per turn" effect, it'd actually be slightly better in ways.
Yeah, I agree with Thousand Eyes Restrict being one of the components of Metamorphosis, but as I keep saying... it made metamorphosis versatile. It could offer Treeborn Frogs, Magical Merchants, and Magicians of Faith, all of which are +1. Now you're limited to tribute monsters, which is usually unfavorable to use for Metamorphosis. TER wasn't the only thing that made Metamorphosis good, but it was what made it consistent.
And no one used Fiend Skull Dragon, Balter was much better.
What do you get with Instant Fusion? I can only think of Senshi for a big swarm (big swarms are hard to get out) and Fiend Skull Dragon (okay so u negate a flip... 1-1... you probably won't have other monsters so what do you do now? flips arent even run that much)
So, with Five-Headed Dragon (F.H.D.) out now, what are the possible ways to use it?
Personally, I see OTKs using this very well with Future Fusion+Dragon's Mirror.
It is very complimentary with Armed Dragon Decks, since Armed Dragon is WIND, and most other dragons are WIND. I'm trying to get this to work with Horus just as well though.
Red Eyes decks, which might focus on getting dragons to the grave, can use this card very well.
Really, the most sensible way is to use Dragon's Mirror, and really only as tech, just thrown into specific dragon builds. I'm thinking of others though.
So far, I've gotten Five God Dragon in my Dragon Beatdown (obviously), Dragon Return (Dragon Mirror + Dimension Fusion/Return from the Different Dimension), Armed Dragon, Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes, Spirit Ryu and Cyber Dark Decks.
So far, it's worked quite well in each. Especially with Masked Dragon + Troop Dragon making it easy to keep field presence while also filling up the Graveyard with them when they die.
I love getting out a Cyber Dark Dragon with Power Bond and equipping it with a Five God Dragon from my Graveyard, lol. 2000 + 5000 + 12+ cards x 100 = 8200+ with only 1000 damage during my End Phase if my attack were to fail, lol.
What do you get with Instant Fusion? I can only think of Senshi for a big swarm (big swarms are hard to get out) and Fiend Skull Dragon (okay so u negate a flip... 1-1... you probably won't have other monsters so what do you do now? flips arent even run that much)
Neither :
Senshi = Level 6
Fiend Skull dragon : A Fusion Summon of this monster can only be conducted with the above Fusion Material Monsters
they are not released yet but i hear some more good dragons are coming out . white horn dragon , axe draganaut and some others . the white horn i hear is gona come from mcdonalds and the axe draganaut and others i hear will be hear .... ok i have no idea when but i heard there coming lol
Through out the game of Yu-Gi-Oh we have seen dragon decks come and go. Others tople others and so on. What makes Dragon decks so unique though is the veriaty and playblilty. We got great cards to support dragons which like in myths are great beasts of death and destruction. So now well take a moment to talk about the diffrent dragons and what they do and can do for those of us who love dragons.
The first dragon we will start out with everyone should know. This great engine of destruction has had alot of people running for cover. Of course I'm talking about the mighty BLUE-EYES WHITE DRAGON. This single normal monster is the strongest of all other normal monsters. When combind with Burst Stream of Destruction this dragon even has the best players scared.
Back in the beging BEWD wasn't playable has much do to the fact he was a 2 monster sacrifice. But has the game evolved so did the playability of BEWD. Now there are many ways to bring him out.
Lord of D. + Flute of Summoning Dragon
This is the universal way to get dragons out. The ablity to special summon 2 dragons from your hand at no cost was considered the ultimate way of playing a dragon deck. Lord of D.'s effect to be able to save your dragons from effects, spells, and traps helped alot.
King Dragun
Now we take Lord of D.'s effect and add it to a stronger monster here. Also the ablity to special summon 1 dragon from your hand per turn makes this fusion dragon a staple in any dragon deck.
Kaiba Man
This card came out as a promo for a game. This card is like Red-Eyes B. Chick has in it has the ability to special summon a BEWD from your hand just by simply sacing Kaiba Man. Once this card came out it was almost a staple for any BEWD deck.
Kaiser Sea Horse
Now this card is abit more usual to see back in the day. This card has the ability to summon a light monster of level 7 or higher at the price of just sacing this card. Great ain't it.
Paladin of White Dragon
This card is also a staple in alot of BEWD decks. It has the ability to destroy a face down monster without it fliping so it gets rid of all those pesky Cyber Jars and other flip monsters. Then you can send it monster to the graveyard to Special Summon a BEWD from your hand or deck. A very versital card indeed.
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon may not be a way to summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon but it is part of the Blue-Eyes family. Its the combination of 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragon and an amazing attack power of 4500 is very good
Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon came to us from the Yu-Gi-Oh movie and has amazing power. Wanna know why.
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by offering 1 "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" on your side of the field as a Tribute. Increase the ATK of this card by 300 points for each Dragon-Type monster in your Graveyard. You can negate the effect of Spell, Trap, and Monster Cards that designate this card.
Wow What a powerful card. 1 it powers itself up from you dragons. 2 it can be targeted for anything but attacks. Its only down fall is its hard ability to summon.
Next Dragon we will discusse is the Blue-Eyes White Dragons brother and one of Joey's greatest cards. You got it its the RED-EYES B. DRAGON.
This card came to us in the beging of the TCG (though I didn't have it till Joey's Starter deck)
This card is similer to its counterpart the BEWD. This card has got just about has many ways of being summoned. But over the course of the game REBD has been forgotten since it is a 2400 LV7 monster. But I still think its a good card now lets see the many uses of REBD. Combined with Inferno Fire Blast this card can cause quite an uproar. The ability to infict 2400 direct damage to your opponet can hurt bad especially if you activate Ring of Destructon on your REBD then Barrel Behind the Door. But yet you ask what can summon this beast quicker.
Lord of D + Flute of Summoning Dragon
Like I sayed earlier its common thing.
King Dragun
Like I said its a monster of a staple. The best way to get King Dragun out is by useing Fusilier and Metamorphisis.
Red-Eyes B. Chick
This alows you to Special Summon REBD with just a simple sacing of the chick.
Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon hasn't seen much play because of the way hes summoned. though he may got a strong attack factor it is so hard to summon. Its sad to if there were easier ways to summon him I'm sure we would see more of him.
Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon
This card may not be a way of summoning REBD but it still gose in here. Its ability is that when you got a face up REBD on your side of the feild you can summon this guy by booting your REBD. What makes this card a staple in REBD decks is its ability to grow in stregth by 300 for every dragon in your grave. Ain't that nice.
Next will talk about the Level Up ability of 2 group of dragons. Yes the Horus group and the Armed group. These are very diffrent groups that hold a common thing. They can level up to be monsters beyond imagenation. First we will talk about the Armed Dragon set.
The master of the Armed dragons is Armed Dragon LV 7. This guy has an excellent attack and defence and a major kick but effect. Just by simply moveing a strong monster out of your hand and sending it to the grave you and destroy all monsters of equal of lower attack to the sent monster on your opponets side of the feild. Well gee Mika thats like BEWD and Burst Stream. And your right. Its hard to summon this guy to but its weaker forms LV3 and LV 5 are easy to summon and can get alot of work done. Lets take a look shell we.
Armed Dragon LV 3
LV 3
Type: Dragon
Attribute: Wind
ATK: 1200
DEF: 900
Subtype: Effect
During your Standby Phase, send this face-up card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Armed Dragon LV5" from your hand or Deck.
Wow aint this a great monster or what. This guy alows you to Speical Summon Armed LV 5 from your hand or deck just by giving this puny guy up. There is onther way though and you can skip doing it on your next turn. Lets just use Level Up.
Level Up!
Card Type: Spell Card
Send 1 face-up monster on your side of the field that has "LV" in its card name to the Graveyard to activate this card. Special Summon the monster that is written in the card text of that monster from your hand or Deck, ignoring the Summoning conditions.
See what a great spell card. Lets see what happens when you Level up Armed LV 3.
Armed Dragon LV5
Type: Dragon
Attribute: Wind
ATK: 2400
DEF: 1700
Subtype: Effect
Send 1 Monster Card from your hand to the Graveyard to destroy 1 face-up monster on your opponent's side of the field with an ATK equal to or less than the ATK of the sent monster. During the End Phase of a turn that this card destroyed a monster as a result of battle, send this card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Armed Dragon LV7" from your hand or Deck.
WOW almost like the effect of LV 7 right. Well has you can see 1 more level up and you should get your wish at having LV 7 on the feild. There are other ways of summoning Armed LV 3 and 5 but you guys probly know what they are.
Next we will talk about the Horus LV set. Alot of dragon duelist go with the Horus set because of its raw power and its great effects. And like the Armed set it could make your opponet scream in terror.
First we will look at the master of the Horus set. Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8. Now this card when I first fought it overwelmed me and kicked my butt. Wanna know why. Its effect of course.
Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8
Type: Dragon
Attribute: Fire
ATK: 3000
DEF: 1800
Subtype: Effect
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6". As long as this card remains face-up on your side of the field, you can negate the activation and effect of any Spell Cards and destroy them.
WOW would you look at that. No wonder I got my butt kicked. It can negate Spells and destroy them and has the attack streagth of BEWD. Ouch this card combined with King Dragun or Lord of D. or Horus Servent is very hard to stop. Need I go on about this great beast. But now lets look at how you can get this guy out and in a hurry. Like the Armed set you can Level them up. But first lets look at Horus Servent
Horus' Servant
Type: Beast-Warrior
Attribute: Fire
ATK: 100
DEF: 100
Subtype: Effect
As long as this card remains face-up on your side of the field, your opponent cannot designate "Horus the Black Flame Dragon" (of any LV) as the target of the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Monster Card.
Holy crap I think I've died and gone to heaven. This card is the king when it comes to protecting you Horus. The only draw back is its low atk and def.
Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4
Type: Dragon
Attribute: Fire
ATK: 1600
DEF: 1000
Subtype: Effect
As long as this card remains face-up on your side of the field, control of this card cannot switch. During the End Phase of a turn that this card destroyed a monster as a result of battle, send this card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6" from your hand or Deck.
Would you look at that. Great news you don't have to worry about creature swap or snatch steal. What a relief right. This guy has got many props IMO.
Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6
Type: Dragon
Attribute: Fire
ATK: 2300
DEF: 1600
Subtype: Effect
As long as this card remains face-up on your side of the field, it is unaffected by any Spell Cards. During the End Phase of a turn that this card destroyed a monster as a result of battle, send this card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8" from your hand or Deck.
Hes uneffected by spells hey thats good news. This dragon is almost like his older self.
Last but not least we will talk about Tyrant Dragon. This guy spell Beatdown in any language. Lets see why.
Tyrant Dragon
Type: Dragon
Attribute: Fire
ATK: 2900
DEF: 2500
Subtype: Effect
When there is a monster on your opponent's side of the field after this monster's first attack of your Battle Phase, this monster can attack once again during the same Battle Phase. In addition, negate the effect of a Trap Card that designates this card as a target and destroy it. If this monster is Special Summoned from the Graveyard, you must Tribute 1 Dragon-Type monster on your side of the field.
Well now we know why he spell Beatdown. And he is easy to summon with King Dragun. The ability to Negate traps that target him spell trouble for you opponet.
There are also level 4 and lower dragons that are really good. Like Spear Dragon this guy spells fear for token users. Luster Dragon and Masked Dragon these guys are used for speed and beatdown.
There are also defence dragon has well has Dragon Dwelling in the Cave. Troop Dragon is good for speed. I like using them with Masked Dragon. Just use up all my Masked Dragon then with the last ones effect summon Troop Dragon and let then have a go.
There are also plenty of Dragon support cards. Stamping Destruction is a very basic one. Its got the ability to destroy any Spell or Trap card on the feild and inflict 500lp damage to that cards controler. Also there is the feild Spell card Moutain. It can boost the power of your dragons. Also there is Dragon Teasure it also boosts your dragons power.
There good trap cards has well. Burst Breath allows you to sac a dragon on your side of the feild to destroy all monsters with a defence equal to or lower then the attacking power of your dragon that you sacked. Onther one is Dragon's Rage. This handy trap gives your Dragon's the Trample ability.
This is where you make your first mistake. All the deck Ideas you named, and principle monsters are great. I'd love to have decks with or based around BEWD, REBD, Armed dragon, Tyrant dragon etc. The problem is, for them to be both dragon decks, and viable in a competitive environment you need the LV4 and under support to make it playable. Dragon's have nothing going for them in that department.
Start with masked dragon, the searcher. It has very few worthwhile targets to look for. Spirit Ryu is hard to fuel for the same reason I just listed, element dragon rarely gets his effect from the opponent, THB is limited to one, and troop dragon is just a milling card (ie its not for playing, its just to defend for a turn and get them in the GY). So you have a searcher with nothing to really search for that is worth it, besides itself, again for milling and thinning purposes.
Then looking at the 1500+ monsters, we have a few decent monsters, but even if we didn't play masked, and focused slightly on the bigger, better monsters, you couldn't fill your deck with them. And even the best ones aren't good enough to hold up in a mildly competitive environment. Spear dragons effect shifting it to defense makes it easy pickings. Run through a token, get picked of by another token next turn. Mirage dragon really does nothing decree doesn't do better, luster dragon is just a vanilla beatstick. And those are the very best dragons have to offer. Even worse, they are ALL dragons hav to offer.
Dragon's lend themselves to SO many decktypes, but they lack the support to make it so. Some typical, good dragon cards, is what the game needs. It could spawn a ton of good new decks.
