Just watched "The Big Year" the other day. It was a decent movie. I would have expected more humor from a movie with Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson, but after watching it, I rather enjoyed the fact that it WASN'T as funny as one might expect. It was much more real and "Down to Earth" than we sometimes see from these actor/comedians. It was especially nice to see Jack Black playing a real person as opposed to an overly animated parody of what a real person acts like.

MIB3. Okay flick, nothing great, but Josh Brolin did a nice job, and the guy From Flight of the Conchords was amazing, plus it put a nice little bow on the series.
They're documentaries about an interesting family of hard-livin' folk who dwell in Boone County, West Virginia. Pretty fascinating stuff; it hits especially close to home for me, since I grew up in rural central Kentucky and actually know people like the Whites. :b
I just watched The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Fincher version) and really enjoyed it. I'd previously seen the originals, but this really is a polished and excellent work. Brutal and still satisfying.

Saw Men in Black III. Josh Brolin was so dead on accurate for a young Tommy Lee Jones that about half way through the movie I forgot that I was even WATCHING Josh Brolin. I had just assumed that Tommy Lee Jones aged in reverse for the movie. LOVED the villain. He was like Macho Man Randy Savage who was made out of fingers and he somehow got ahold of Ghost Rider's motorcycle (Minus the flames)
It was a really decent movie. It wasn't anything that breaks any ground in film making or anything, but it was well worth the price of admission.

Last handful of movies I've seen....(saw a bunch in a flurry of movie watching)
Avengers for the second time - enjoyed it just as much as the first time.
Drive - good stuff...moody and atmospheric...but it wasn't too long and it was entertaining. Once it gets going into some of the conflict/action, gets pretty graphic.
Everything Must Go - Will Ferrell in a more serious/dark role. Good stuff...still funny, but not his typical style. It's streaming on Netflix and well worth your time.
Chronicle - Pretty cool spin on what would happen if some high school kids suddenly had some superhuman abilities. Only about 90 minutes...a quick and entertaining flick.
I did see Brave yesterday. It was not nearly as layered and deep as other Pixars I've enjoyed, but I enjoyed the comedic touches and the simple message was conveyed reasonably.
