RE: Bechdel Test. Very interesting indeed. I was not aware of what this meant, so I am sharing with you-all.
From Wikipedia.
"This comic strip popularized an uncomplicated test for films to determine gender bias. The Bechdel test (also known as the Bechdel/Wallace test, the Bechdel rule, or Bechdel's law) is credited to Bechdel's friend Liz Wallace, and appears in a 1985 strip entitled "The Rule." One of the characters says that she only watches a movie if it satisfies the following requirements:
1. It has to have at least two women in it,
2. Who talk to each other,
3. About something other than a man. (Not limited to romantic relationships, for example two sisters talking about their father doesn't pass)
A variant of the test, in which the two women must additionally be named characters, is also called the Mo Movie Measure. The name is a misnomer as neither Mo nor the other regular characters had been introduced yet at the time of this strip's publication.
A blog was formed to review films on whether or not they pass this test. The Bechdel Test Movie List allows users to add their own movies."

I know but knowing what goes through the mind of a teenaged boy scares the ever-loving crap out of me. Not even abuse specifically, but just a general lack of respect/humanity. And yes, that can happen with either gender, which is why I admit that my fear is irrational. It still exists though.
It exists in mine, too. And the thing is, even in elementary school you have to start watching out due to the sheer numbers of degenerates and lunatics that are out there - not to mention the older boys trying to take advantage of the naivete of younger girls. I have never wanted to own a firearm, except in the case of doing whatever it takes to defend my kids. (No, I still can't get over my anti-gun bias but then again the teenage years are still a ways down the horizon.)

On another note, I was informed that this promotion is basically mine to lose at this point. Yay for me. Except, as always with me, there's a speed bump. A bunch of corporate political red tape to wade through. Basically, my boss's boss really likes my performance and has voiced this opinion a number of times even though he's never been known for doling out compliments. Another win in my corner. The catch is that apparently in order to give me this promotion, they need this person's consent. The promotion would move me (and likely my star analyst) off his team and onto another. This leaves him with a rather large personel void to fill with people of unknown quality. So now my career hangs on this person's moral fiber. Do they reward me and promote me at the possible expense of their own future achievements? Or do they hold me back and force my hand to start looking outside the organization for another job? This thing is tearing me apart inside. So anxious.

I have years of experience with firearms. I'm actually for them for certain purposes. Still, my wife is dead set against them and it's one of those subjects where you choose your battles. So the guns I own are not on my property.

If they are smart, they will promote you and figure out how you can train your replacement. Better that than to alienate you by refusing to promote you and then losing you altogether down the road. Then again, this is the logical alternative and no one ever accuses management of only ever taking the logical way to go.
No matter what happens, I will continue to wish you the very best of Roman luck, olde chum.

Ha! Maybe that's why I was never asked out, my dad did/does own firearms.
I don't judge people who own and keep guns in the house. It's a personal choice. More power to them.
I just don't want firearms in my place, that's all.

I obviously did grow up with them in the house, so I can go either way. But me personally, I don't own any. Yet... I know I will be willed one and them I have to decide what I will do with it.

Ah, wonky communications classes
I just arived at school (an hour early I might add) for my final exam of "methods and strategies of influence" then I check my email and find this
YOU HAVE UNTIL ONE THIRTY TODAY TO PROVE TO ME THAT YOU HAVE LEARNED WHAT YOU NEED TO LEARN TO FULFILL YOUR CONTRACT OBLIGATIONS. YOU MAY DO THIS IN WRITING OR YOU MAY SEND A VIDEO MESSAGE. YOU MAY DELIVER YOUR "PROOF" TO MY OFFICE IN PERSON (in hard copy form) OR YOU MAY EMAIL IT OR EMAIL A LINK TO YOUR "PROOF" OF MASTERY OF PERSUASION PRINCIPLES.
LOOK CAREFULLY AT YOUR CONTRACT OBLIGATIONS AND DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU HAVE LEARNED, READ, WATCHED, MASTERED, ALL THAT YOU AGREED TO IN YOUR CONTRACT.
THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO YOU TO BE CREATIVE, BUT IT IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO DO NOTHING OR TO SEND ME A CLEVER ONE LINER AND BELIEVE THAT THAT WILL DO IT. I NEED PROOF, DEMONSTRABLE PROOF. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE FINAL EXAMS; TO ALLOW YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVE YOUR CASE. HERE I AM IN ESSENCE, ALLOWING YOU TO SHAPE THE STYLE AND FORM OF YOUR OWN EXAM, BUT IT MUST ACHIEVE THE SAME ENDS, WHICH IS TO PROVE THAT YOU HAVE LEARNED ACCORDING TO YOUR CONTRACT.
GOOD LUCK. I AWAIT YOUR BRILLIANCE. WFS
All I can think of doing is
1) convince a random stranger to come to his office and say something or another to him or
2) get a friend of mine to pretend he is a random stranger and that I influenced him to say or do something, when actually the person I will be influencing is the proffesor, to give me a good grade.
Explain this after he has told me I did a good job

My essay and presentation regarding feminist media studies, used the Bechdel test among other media theories
this is the only thing that I found in my syllabus resembling contract obligations is this.. oph and the book we read
1. Student should be able to distinguish between coercive and persuasive strategies.
2. Study should be able to distinguish between behavioral and cognitive theories of influence.
3. Student should have an ability to utilize the some of the theories in a practical way during presentations.
4. Student should demonstrate competence in utilizing theories and recognizing the use of specific theories across media.
