Saw Nymphomaniac Vol 1 this weekend in theaters with a couple friends and my girlfriend. It was honestly like nothing I had ever seen before, and I'm not even talking about the explicit stuff. It was a fascinating blend of humor, shock, drama, and life. A pleasant surprise given von Trier's typical dark DARK tone (although I'm guessing Vol 2 is going to be where it comes off the rails in that regard). It was definitely von Trier's best film and I can't wait to see Vol 2.
Obviously it isn't for everyone, but if you've enjoyed any of von Trier's movies, or are even the least bit curious, you'd be doing yourself a disservice skipping this.
pl i gave th at clone wars show a shot and saw two horrid episodes and two outstanding ones. I love the actual clone troopers, but i find all the jedi stuff poorly written/boring
Just saw Divergent on Monday, and... well, it was there, I guess? There were some fairly good bits (Kate Winslet is possibly the most adorable villain I've seen in a while), but honestly, there were a lot of plot holes that really distracted from the movie.

What makes The Thin Red Line the worst film you've ever seen?
I think it suffers from the same issues that The Pacific did when you compare it to Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers. The Normandy campaign is a nice, compact narrative with (apparently) strikingly memorable characters who are played by actors that you *still* associate with those roles. Homeland notwithstanding, Damian Lewis will always be Dick Winters. Whatever Barry Pepper is in, I want him to have the opportunity to say, "This sniper's got talent."
The war in the Pacific is much bigger in scope, and I don't think that it lends itself to the same kind of narrative decompression that works so well in European theater war stories. In The Thin Red Line, I spent much of the movie asking myself, "Wait - is that Jim Cavaziel? Or is it the other guy?" Sure, Nolte gets to chew some very pretty scenery (that yes, I get it, is being blown to hell because war), but Travolta and Clooney feel like stunt casting, and their presence sucked me right out of the movie. Since their appearances pretty much bookend the film, at least there's some symmetry in the "Oh, look. It's Gen. Vincent Vega." effect.
Just happens to be one of my top 5 is why I'm curious.
Oh, it's certainly not the worst. I mean, there's Michael Bay's entire body of work to consider for that category. He's even got his own overly long Pacific War epic - and even when you consider its possible faults, The Thin Red Line is most definitely not the steaming pile that Pearl Harbor is.
Captain America:The Winter Soldier. Much better than Thor:TDW and,now his back-story is out of the way,The First Avenger.

Arnim Zola only currently exists as stored data, the end of Fury(s eyepatch)and even a look underneath it,plus possibly the end of Brock Rumlow & the beginning of Crossbones.
Mid-credits scene is Baron Von Strucker with Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch imprisoned,post-credits is Bucky in The Smithsonian Museum perusing his tribute in the Cap display to find out about his past.
I watched Epic yesterday after I stumbled upon the dvd at the grocery store while buying shampoo.
I wanted to see this in the theatre but didn't get around to it.
It was fun and I was thoroughly entertained all through the film without getting bored. That hasn't happened often lately. Even the remarkable unfunnyness of Aziz Ansari couldn't ruin the movie.
Without any spoilers for Cap 2, what order would you rank all the MCU films after having seen the latest? Just so I can get an idea how much you liked it and if I agree with your rankings
Was it a good film, or just a good comic book film? Like, if it wasn't Cap and the Marvel U movie but just as a film, was it good?
Went into it with 0 expectations. Well, that's not true really, went in expecting it to be horrible. It wasn't half bad really. Not a cinematic masterpiece by any means, but not total garbage either.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........

I have a hard time objectively rating them as,while it's nice to see the characters and their respective corners of the bigger MU realized onscreen, there's so many other storylines I'd rather have seen. Plus I just don't care for Iron Man or The Hulk, who both got too much screen time in Avengers for my liking, understandable though as RDJ is the biggest draw & Hulk needed to be reintroduced proper with Ruffalo being the new Banner.

That said,Cap 2 is one of the best of the lot,it just isn't as cerebral as it aspires to be as it's politics never really delve beyond the superficial before inevitably giving way to the action. I guess we'll have to see what the ramifications are in Agents of SHIELD & Age of Ultron.

Another thing,The Avengers should really be more careful with their toys as Strucker also had Loki's sceptre in his possession.
Unbiased,I'd rate them in this order with my personal preference in parentheses
Iron Man (6)
Avengers (2)
Cap 2 (3)
Thor (1)
Thor 2 (4)
Cap (5)
IM 2 (7)
Hulk (8)
IM 3 (9)
