I also believe you are right about the other list being the "2nd Explosion" of sorts. Aam Strange, for instance, was in the second wave. Firestorm certainly wasn't a backup feature, as his book was cancelled in the Explosion.
There were series not featured in this ad, however-- Golden Age Green Lantern, for one.
Ah, but Firestorm was a backup in the Flash during the "2nd explosion". Some of his better stories, actually. I'd love to see a collection of it.
Anyhow, I guess it's my turn at bat again!
Let's go wAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back this time, and I'll throw a softball since I haven't had time to come up with a doozy yet:
In the Golden Age, Lex Luthor originally had Red Hair (although only for a short time), but during that time, Superman DID battle a bald scientist. Who is that scientist????

It was in a recent Power Girl storyline. Gerard Shugel is a name derived from the names of Superman creators Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel. I think it was Jimmy Palmiotti who wrote it.
And it was also recently revealed (in the one year later storyline) that he got the ape body with help from Satanna and THEN the two of them became lovers. So, where Marvel's got incest running rampant, DC has beastality going on.
I only know this from the HeroClix character cards, but I think it's the Time Stealers.
Well, no. They were actually the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I kid.
Yes, they were indeed the Time Stealers. They stole many a rolex and timex. But they felt jipped after one of them stole a "rodex" watch and so, they broke up.

I know I'm going to regret this before I even ask, but where is this "rampant" incest in Marvel books?
--I apologize to the rest of the thread in advance.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

I like the Power Girl series, but something about that origin seemed a bit off. It changed his origin bigtime, since it never mentioned the Movie actress or the bug bodies he also had his brain in. I guess those never happened post-infinite crisis now???
Most of my "name three" questions consist of two easy ones and one not-so-easy, so I'll cut to the chase with this one.
Three villainous Captains once teamed up for a crime spree that was stopped by Captain Comet and Black Canary. Two of them were Captain Cold and Captain Boomerang. Who was the third?
