Yeah, Eastern Philosophers mafia wouldn't have known, but I figured it was better to inform the town. If nothing else, killing me will take up a lot of a mafia's bandwidth without giving them much, helping the rest of you gain an edge.

I figured the mafia (didn't 'know' there were two, but was really hoping I'd catch one of each if there were) would assume I lied about the one-shot and was a regular cop. I really hoped the town would believe me, and focus protection elsewhere. Glad it all worked out.

Alternatively, depending on what other powers you might be/if you have any other powers, and assuming you don't have anything that can force the Mafia to target you, the Mafia might try avoiding you short-term with a hope of getting you lynched (meaning we'll want to closely examine any 'evidence' that anyone might come forward with as reason to lynch you) or they might try to ol' "misdirect people into the PGO for an extra kill" trick.
