Team vs team. Not required to attack your AE (of course you do score double points for them, so it can certainly be worth while to concentrate on them).
Somehow I knew Doom would be in the picture, making me take the waste of a figure, Mr. Fantastic.
How do we score double points on this? Say Reed hits Doom successfully, does that mean he doubles the damage he'd normally do?
A few random thoughts, let me know if you agree:
1.) 5 turns per round not including leadership, Avengers free move etc.
2.) Support pieces should be restricted to 'support' and not need to be koed to finish the game. Meaning our big guns do all the damage, our little guys can tk, heal, add perplex but not fight. This is a small thing and if you feel otherwise, that's cool too.
3.) We can pick any version of the character. If I pick Superman it can be World at War SS. If you pick Thor it can be Ultimate. This is simply a thought (mostly based on not wanting to use regular Cap again).
4.) When we tally up we need to be within 25 points of each other before adding the filler figures. Then the lower point player can add support pieces equalling the approximate same number of points. Then we can add two of the same filler figures for each team automatically (say a paramedic and a con artist).
I have so many choices I want to make but I'm going for a favorite and regular,
Nice choice. I probably would have grabbed Batman soon if you hadn't.
To answer your questions in order:
Double points would be per the usual AE rules. The figures don't get any extra bonuses when attacking each other, but if a figure succeeds in KOing a figure that is their AE, they score double the points. This means we'll actually keep track of victory points for this game, which we don't normally do. We usually just play until someone's the clear winner. The twist is by going with points, One of us could still end up winning, even if the other player "defeats" him. So if I was playing the E Doom, you'd score 163 points for KOing him during the game. If Mr. Fantastic was responsible for the KOing attack though, you'd get a whopping 326 points for him.
1. Yeah 5 rounds is good, with the usual exceptions for free moves, leadership, etc.
2. THis is fine too. The game ends when all 10 of one team's "name" pieces are KOd, at which point the player with the highest victory points wins.
3. This is fine as well. For the purposes of scoring, all arch-enemies will be considered to have the AE base, even if they don't really. So if I choose Catwoman instead of Joker, She and Batman would still get double points if they KO one another.
4. How do we choose the last 2 "fillers"? One choice apiece?
Hm, nice thing about combining those two generics is they come to a nice round 25 points.
For what it's worth I've been playing around with points and so far with 8 figures (though I'm still undecided on who to play against Batman) the smallest build total I can get is 745 points and the largest 1197. That's a pretty wide range of points. I've been thinking about how to come up with a point total for the teams. I suspect we'll both have a pretty wide range.
For maximum chaos, I'd go toward the high end. Do you want to just say figure the maximum you can get with each team, and say that the Build total must be within 25 points of the lower? So if my highest possible build total (HPBT) is, say 1400 points when we're done picking, and your HPBT is 1250, I'd have to limit my team to 1275 and you'd get to add generics to get to 1275? Or do you think we should cut it down a bit more than that?
I think we go high end and then widdle down. Maybe once the dust settles we can add one more character with bigger points for me since my team seems smaller (and a bit weaker...you're not really helping with the choices you're leaving me. The wholly ineffectual Mr. F? Hulk's and Flash's meager enemies? The rather useless DD? Boy you I must have totally offended you or you really wanna win).
Callisto? Not sure who I would consider her AE. Storm perhaps, for usurping her leadership of the Morlocks? Or am I missing someone obvious?
For Doom you could probably get away with taking any of the FF. He's pretty much arch-enemy for the whole team. Abomination's a decent enemy for the Hulk - though even in his Vet, he costs less then even the R Hulk. Bullseye you could probably do DD or Elektra (And there's always the vicious Xplosion Elektra U)
And for my final choice I'll go with SPIDER-MAN.
It would have been a shame to not have him in this game, and surely you can't complain about the options I'm giving you there!
