I suspect that Invincible won because of Indy fans among the HeroClix players voting for Indy because it is Indy, rather than Invincible fans among non-HeroClix players.
I find that immensely unlikely.

Once you discount the effects of someone voting multiple times, I do not believe that there were enough Invincible fans motivated to vote to outweigh actual HC fans.
Scott Kurtz's PvP has millions of viewers daily, many of whom tend to do the things he tells them to do, especially if it only requires them to go to a web page and click on a link.
Is a compairison between PvP's monthly traffic, and HCRealm's monthly traffic. HCrealms is that tiny blue squiggle along the bottom.
Could he get a significant number of those people to pay $40 plus shipping for seven 2-inch figurines? Of course not, but that's Wizkids' problem. What he CAN do is get a significant amount of those people to follow a link and click a few bubbles.
Nope, just control over atomic particels. Although if you ask me, that's pretty darn powerful. For example, she can change garbage into gold or water into wood, etc. So her power is pretty limitless.
Keep in mind Firestorm can do the same thing, and Wizkids gave him Incap
KILOWOG not KILOWAG, KILAWOG or KILAWAG ROGUE not ROUGE (which happens to be RED in French) GRAVITON not GRAVITRON (Decepticon that never got made?)
My concern with the collectors sets is that we may have a popular (i.e. well-purchased) set that inspires greater production for a followup set that may not sell as well...causing future disruptions in supply/demand.
We saw this happen with Indy overstock (plus leftover Mutant Mayhem and Ultimates) causing a massive cutback in DC Legacy. If we can put accusations of ballot-box stuffing aside, all those voters for Invincibles collectors sets had better buy that set, or the program risks serious damage/disruption.
It should be obvious that less than expected sales are the reason for products like Sentinels and Sinestro Constructs (and also Map-Packs) are no longer considered viable sellers (outside of 'exclusive' figures).
I would have definitely provided my credit card info (when voting) for any number of the candidates, as a show of good faith that I'd actually buy my first choice...would a majority of other voters do the same?
Exactly my concern. Kirkman put folks into the vote (fair or not, check Kirkman's moral compass to see if it is since mine is supposedly borken) that don't know what Heroclix is, probably don't care to buy any of Wizkids Heroclix stuff, and won't buy Invincible, even though they are fans of the characters.
THAT is my concern. THAT is why I have had and still have an issue with it. And again, I love how I'm a bad guy for still being annoyed with it. I am, I will be. And no, if I'm not interested in this product, I'm NOT dropping $40.00 to insure future sets beyond 2099. I'm not in a financial position to "float a loan that never will be repaid" to Kirkman's fans. Yes, I have bought from every set to date, but if there is nothing in the Invincible set I want, I'm not paying for another person's actions. Sorry, I didn't want this set at #1, I wanted GLC. I'm getting that, so if I pass on this one, excuse me fellas, but go hit up the guys on Kirkman's forum for what they owe for their votes.
And tyroclix is correct in the final proof will be in the sales numbers, if it sells out and how quickly (as well as how many actual units were originally produced. Its real easy to sell out 500 copies. Far harder to sell 3000 copies.) zero also had a very valid point that folks might of voted for an Indy set for the sheer fact we have had zero Indy figures besides the "City of" figures.
Answerman, glad you think he's such a nice guy. Glad you introduced him to WK back in the day. I hope to hell I'm wrong. (Yes, there I said it) and Invincible sells well. If the announcement comes that the set has sold out in a reasonable amount of time, I'll apologize to all Invincible fans and Kirkman here at HCRealms.com. (Well, at least to Kirkman. Considering a few of the Heroclix related threads I read on his forum had his fans insulting Heroclix players, I'm not convinced that they will be buying "Invincible Heroclix." At least they proved the point they won't be buying, it will be up to HEROCLIX fans to buy a HEROCLIX product. Didn't find a thread of him discouraging multiple votes, but again, I also didn't find a thread him encouraging his readers to do so either. I did a quick look, I'll do a longer one after work. If I'm wrong, folks who have thrown down with me in the past on this site will agree that I do apologize when I am wrong.)
Still doesn't change the fact that this was a BS way to be introduced to him and his product for me. Still doesn't change the fact that there was shenanigans with the first vote. I might not of been happy with the 2099, but there were far better signs of it winning during the voting, whereas Invincible was a ballot stuffing. Because if there wasn't a problem the first time around, why the changes on the later vote? There was, WK knows it, and has made moves to fix it.
And while you and I might not agree with each other on this subject, we both can agree that comments like the following comes from a stupid, stupid place:

Whatever Normandy. I might not like 3 Marvel sets a year, but at least if they are good sets game wise, I can ignore the fact that Marvel fans have 3 times as many of their favorite characters over my favorite characters.

Damn lemmings.

Good stuff Frontman, we indeed have common ground!
I thnk you are being a little unfair to the peeps on his forums, last I checked insults were tossings insults towards HC fans because they were told to esentially 'go away' by HC fans.
I was falbbergasted by the HC communities response to 'outsiders'.
I woudl never have guessed that HC fans would be so xenophobic , I wouda thought that the HC community would welcome any potential surge of fans.
Guess My head was ful of wishful thinking.
Imagine if the incident had of been more like "its a great game! Discover clix through your favorite characters in Invincible!", than the "go away!! you don't belong here non-HC players!!" the vote turned out to be.
Anyways...
The Invincible HC thread was a sticky thread that went down a couple of months back, I tried looking for it as well to no avail.
I suspect its gone to the ether now...

Totally. But they do some good. Right now they are fighting against "Network Neutrality" changes in congress. In the past they've flooded the Horde side of a WoW board in weeks. It really is an incredible little bully pulpit he's set up there.
I mean, in this case, if even one in ten (probably even one in one hundred) of his daily visitors were to vote on this Heroclix thing, for no other reason than because he asked them to and it only took a minute of their time to do so, then their votes would completely overwhelm the votes of EVERY member of the Heroclix comunity. That's power.

Answerman, get serious here. I don't think anyone would be upset if tens of thousands of new fans were to show up and start playing the game. That'd be great, because it'd mean more product and lower prices for all. The problem people have is with dillitantes who have NO interest in the game, and yet taint the results of a poll who's outcome really only impacts those who DO play the game. That's not in the least xenophobia.
It's more like how I wouldn't mind if the people of China enjoyed out country and came to vistit from time to time, but I would mind if all of them could somehow write-in vote in our national elections, comepletely canceling out the vote of every man and woman in America, and voting in someone that the American public was highly unlikely to want in the role.
Why are you having such a problem understanding that concern?

That may be power, but it's not necessarily a good thing IMO. These sets should primarily be decided by the people who play and support the game. Not by a bunch of lemmings who, by their kowtowing, serve only to feed a mini-egomaniac.
And yes, I've read Invincibles. It sucks. Nothing new. Nothing original.

right...
says the man who doesn't even know the name of the book.
I tell you what since i clearly disagree with Ohoni Frontman, and Hair10 I'll just bow out here, and not let my emotions get the better of me as its faily obvoious that the level of venom towards INVICIBLE (note the lack of an 's' ) is biased because of this clix ####.
Those up in arms on this are Marvel or DC zombies. They view Image as unworthy, and look at Invincible as a lame Superboy rip off (whose book they'll never try).
