I played against a themed Alpha Flight team recently with Guardian as an Inspiring Commander.
IC in combination with their ATA made them great, much more formidable than I expected.
This is a team I am hoping to play soon. I occassionally played an Alpha Flight team w/Logan (or was it Patch?)...swapping him out for Inspiring Command (and Armor Piercing) for Vindicator will probably make that team a lot tougher.
Inspiring Command almost seems tailor-made for the HSS-hit-and-run teams!
Superboy doesn't have range, IIRC. Your best bet is for Superboy to start his movement next to Maxima or OWAW Superman & Charge an opposing figure than move the IC figure next to or behind Superboy so he pushes next turn w/ CCE. That's also in my Crit Hit article.
Sorry, I didn't necessarily mean "Superboy." I really meant "Connor Kent" but said "Superboy." Connor has an 8 range.
great article. I remember being excited by the possiblities when the card was announced, but i didn't get around to playing it until i was putting together a team to make use of my (then) new TonyStark LE. I had about 5-600 pts (dont exactly remember) and i decided to go with the second avengers line up (Iron Man, Cap, Hawkeye (all time fav char), Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) After selecting my players, i went about filling in with feats and said "hey i can finally get a chance to use inspiring commander!" i played it with E cap who spent his time on the b!tch seat of hawkeye's Jetbike
and yes OMG it was great. I was playing at a venue other than my usual and ran into someone in the first round playing a LAMP team he'd pulled off the internet and didn't know how to use. needless to say the willpower came in very very handy
I've since tinkered with using the feat some, but i haven't found a better use than that E cap (mostly with the ever cool V FF Hawkeye) so it was with great pleasure that i saw he was not only on the list but at the top of it as well....
I once did a 300 point game, no one over 50 points. E Cap from the old set was definitely an effective commander in that match. I had E Cap, E Starter Wasp, LE Ant-man, R Hellcat (which can now be replaced with Mocking bird if I so choose), R Black Panther, E Moon Knight, V Scarlet Witch and Thunderbolt to Defenders.
I'd also like to add that Vet Queen Bee isn't really too bad for Inspiring Command. If you like The Society, then she's one of your best bets. Throw a little Armor Piercing on her, and you're good. And she can carry somebody around to give willpower to or to use as Mastermind fodder.
What? Lord Recluse isn't on the list?! He has his entire dial catered to Inspiring Command with a mixture of Leadership and Mastermind. Not to mention is nifty Arachnos team ability (which made me laugh when all the gamers at the Fan Expo butchered it by calling it "Arcanos"), Recluse carries a mixture of powers including late dial leap climb to move to important pieces if Ghost Widow isn't around.
I havnt though about using him with that, I'll have to try a arachnos team sometime soon

Something else to consider about Vet Queen Bee (who qualifies for Inspiring Command from bothMastermindandLeadership) is that she is more pricey than the Injustic League Giant (Giganta)...still needs square-to-square adjacency for MM and IC tho'...but IIRC the only members of the Injustice League more costly are the Brainiac 13s.
