Don't let one figure ruin the fun! I mean besides in Starro events I doubt anyone will use it, considering that there are better figures that do the same thing, and some even cheaper.
Yes you are officially a loser if you need to do this to "better your chances much less win".QUOTE]
Well, I was officially a loser without the phone booth, thanks. I feel loads better.
Can't help you there, Fastcat.
I'm not so much worried about the sealed part of things for Starro. I'm confident I can nail that 19 D with whoever. More worried about other applications that could stem from the "free actions" in other sanctioned tournaments.
Plus the whole entire way of losing the spirit of the game thing. There's always that.
Anything that would let you do something continuously to gain an edge.
Nanobots was already mentioned as one of them.
While I agree that there aren't many that would go directly along with the Phone Booth, I think it's more of the principle in general rather than the specifics. I mean if you can gain +2 def multiple times from Shellhead, why wouldn't you be able to do multiple clicks with Phone Booth?
Of course they wouldn't have to errata them, but I feel they'd be contradicting themselves if they didn't.

Certain criteria has to be followed for some of what you listed to work. Nanobots can deplete itself quickly. Shellhead requires that the character push. Nonetheless, do you honestly believe that Wizkids created the object with that intent? I see it as a thematic way to push past an activation click. I do commend people for finding a strategic use for it, though.

Nanobots has the built-in limit of only once per object. The only time it gets particularly silly is in combination with RIU and possibly Separation Generator (is that the right one?), but that still isn't usually multiple times per turn.
Also, you can't get the +2 from Shellhead multiple times per turn.
I'm not thinking of many previous effects that are directly analogous to this new object, so I don't believe that many people will agree with your assessment of their potentially contradicting themselves. They've always errata-ed based on intent (supposably).
TRADES. eBay.
An Admin told me that I'm "too smart" for Another Realm. I hold that as a standing order.
Before WK does anything else, they need to learn how to organize the rulebook. :P "Here's the description for this." Later on in the book, "Even though we said that about this, we're gonna confuse people by adding in a little tidbit about this even though it belongs back there."

And Phone Booth can only be used once for each click of life a figure has. The criteria is there.
Soon as I read it I understood it as once/turn per character
I don't think the intent was to ever allow Gypsy to long distance herself to godhood
I kind of have to wonder, if that's what you understood it to mean as soon as you read it, why do we bother with the rules and why does WK attempt to write things to work correctly as they are written? Shouldn't we understand it to work as it reads until further notice? Seems that way to me, anyway.
Gypsy...to godhood? C'mon, you're opponent wants to give one of their characters 5 clicks of damage and you're gonna say no? It turns an already useful 6 click dial into a pog with a 19 defense and defend. Not really godhood, IMO.
So the argument for nanobots I've seen, and I agree with, is that it is limited already by the finite number of objects on the board, so allowing it to be used more than once a turn is okay. I buy that.
With the Phone booth, you are giving up clicks of life, which is also a finite recource on any team. What's the real difference? It's a one way street, unless you devote further resources to Support, Regen, Nanobots, etc.
I honestly believe that the game can stand this level of dial manipulation, and continuing this trend into the future to a degree would probably make the game better from my point of view.

Basically if you underbuilt, and you got a figure with willpower onto the phone booth, you could simply continuosly give free actions to the willpowered figure and thus never allow your opponent another turn, and you wouldn't be stalling technically and all that. I would like to see how many players actually have the mental fortitude to actually do that for forty minutes or more, but that's just a whole different kind of championship there, really.

1. what do you guys mean by underbuilt exactly?
2. I'd like to actually meet a player who would actually do such a thing and take a picture, so I could give it back to him as a keepsake after he gets permanently disfigured by a horrible beating for being such a loser. This person must exist, somewhere out there...
Underbuild: You build a force whose point total is significantly less than the build total limit of the game you're playing.
For example, if all the players agree that they can't build a force with a build total greater than 300 points and someone builds a force that only equals 200 points then that person underbuilt.

It would only work if there was exactly x^2 people in the tournament though... that's the only number where you have one undefeated person at the end of x rounds of swiss play. Anything else, you'll have multiples, and the person trying this loses on points to someone who actually played.
But, yeah, this would ugly in X Swiss + Single Elimination. I fully expect it to be errata'ed into unavoidable or penetrating damage instead of pushing damage.
