I'll go even further. Over 80% of all characters currently appearing in superhero comics are way beyond their sell-by date. And that would include most or all of the A-listers.

Considering how derivative most new creations are in the super hero world, I'd say that number could be even higher.

Maybe, just maybe, Marvel and DC can try and push some books that aren't about superheroes. What a novel idea that would be.

I was aware of OMD not being popular, but I hadn't bothered to read up on it (I get the UK anthology Astonishing Spider-Man, which collect three issues a time, but it's like 2 years behind your guys) until now.

I mean look at other Comic characters that are married and are living normal lives (sortof)
Reed and Sue Storm Ups and Downs over the years. Even had Kids.
Black Panther and Storm.
Vision and Scarlet Witch (had kids then not)
Quicksilver and Crystal
Hell Titania and Absorbing Man.
Marriage ups and downs. This whole poof it never happened is BS. I mean think about how much back history is erased. I mean I like the Idea of Spidey hooking up w/ Black Cat Again, but this was the wrong way to do it.

Ok I want to get rid of Mary Jane, and make Pete Single again. How to DO it (believably) OK here is my Take Pete gets seriously wounded ( insert whatever mob of Spidey haters in there to do the job) He Dies! but wait a nanosecond before he bites it, Memphisto appears and offers MJ a Deal. I take Pete's love for you and his memory of her and the memory that the pair were even together and he will save him. She Agrees walla, no one remembers that they were ever married ( except MJ and aunt May ) Here is the Kicker MJ is still pregnant after the deal, No one remembers the marriage but it still happened. Big M has plans for Pete's and MJ's Baby.
OK now to save Aunt May. Ok during the fight, which gravely injures Pete, One of the participants ( uhm lets say Vulture ) is also almost killed but Pete saves him and this is inveriably how he gets hurt. Vulture Feeling remorse and finally seeing the errors of his ways switches sides and becomes a good guy, Helping pete defeat the others. Ok he then also uses his knowledge to save Aunt may with the technology of his suit.

You can argue this is Peter's fault for letting Norman find out his idenity, and letting someone close to him(Please no that I don't think that, I'm happy people know who he is...Some people, and that he let's people get close to him, but we go to part 2...)

The sniper is aimed for Peter, he jumps and it hits May. This is "his fault."

Okay I didn't read through everything but let me see if I can follow this. From what I know about OMD and the two page spread someone linked from ASM #546:

Spiderman did all of those things in the past but no one can really remember what happened or the exact details? (Hey weren't you married no that was my blow up doll I used to carry around we weren't married silly.)

Some of the details are different from how they actually happened? (I thought you had natural web shooters?)

Marvel doesn't plan on explaining anything from the past twenty years? (what changes?)

When it comes to saving his Aunt/wife he would. That was pretty accurate, IMO.

I made my life simple some time ago.

Ditch everything in Marvel Continuity.

Pick up individual issues as needed.

Have a few Ultimate titles pulled.

Get some more DC, and a lot more indy stuff. Who cares how many people get which books. Goon, Kabuki, Bomb Queen, there's plenty of fun stuff out there.
