Thematic: a failure. I finally have this guy, so maybe when I bust on him now it won't sound just like sour grapes. He's the wrong choice for a Chase in every way: a popular rather than niche character, a pivotal rather than peripheral character to a storyline, and absurdly powerful rather than balanced, but with unique abilities/characteristics (i.e. Skrull Sue.) Also, KC Superman didn't really need a remake, in my opinion. The old one works.
Mechanic: a huge success. Quite possibly the most dangerous man in HeroClix, especially considering his relatively low cost. Big range, absurd damage potential up close, and the KC TA to help stop tie-up fodder and possibly keep HSS Armor Piercers from nickel and diming him. A full dial of M&A powers. The only justification I can see for his discount cost is that beyond the first click, his DV is quite hittable, with a number of 16s. I've seen him go down, but not frequently, and generally only when a team is somewhat prepared for him with competitive-level stuff. If you bring a fun or comic-accurate team against this guy, odds are they're gonna get stomped.
Isn't anyone else bothered by how ridiculously cheap this guy is? I mean he costs 12(!) points more than JL superman. Sure it's fun if you're deploying it, but totally unfair if you're opposing him. It's a good thing he's a chase, or else there'd be a wizkids riot.
Stole one for a smooth $56 on ebay just so I could play against it, and better learn how to take it down. Definitely everything it is hyped to be, but I just couldn't give him a high score on sculpt, I really felt he and E-2 should have had separate ones.
This is "the" superman to have. He may not be an army destroyer like E2, but he doesn't need to be. He can handle any figure 1 on 1, even big figures. I have 3 of him and 3 of his E2 counterpart for the days when we have a magnificent 7 tournament (7 biggest figs you have). Pair those with a KC Green Lantern and I have a winning combination I think. People will say that Superboy Prime is the best figure there is for killing superman. Whoever those people are dont see KC Sups often or understand that his low costs means more support and feats. TK him up to Prime and lay waste with a meteor. All done! I use KC in the bigger pointed games (400+) and he shines like gold. He won me a starro, and he never went down once.
I have played him twice and both times he went down but only cause it was a massiv point game like 1200 or something and the first time i used him he took on the sentry from SI and the Vet Icons Superman AT THE SAME TIME AND WON!!!!! But he went down right after because paralax was 6 squares away. but he did GREAT
On one hand he's got ridiculous damage potential for a bargain price. On the other hand he's still pretty expensive and not terribly difficult to maneuver around to take out. Normally that should imply he's balanced but I can't make myself believe it. Being a chase fig helps keep him out of most play I suppose.
Just went up against this guy last week. I had Thor's Chariot and 2 Valkyries, he had this guy, Rip Hunter, Dawnstar, Karate Kid, and Batman Beyond. We both played too cautiously and only Dawnstar was KO'ed, KC Supes did not get a single attack roll. The Chariot is too mobile for Supes to catch if he does not just take a move to base the Chariot. He seriously needs TK support to be a major threat. His other big weakness is that he is not pushable. Rather use new Thor. Running Shot beats Charge 9 times out of 10.

In response to SHVFarias, I'll explain. He has Charge and Flurry which can be used in conjunction so you move up to however far Charge will allow you to move and then make a close combat action w/ Flurry where he can make 2 close combat attacks in a row, and if he's carrying 2 heavy objects thanks to his Kryptonian Strength SP that allows him to carry 2 objects at once each heavy object modifies his DaV by +2. So basically, carry 2 heavy objects, charge up to an opposing character, attack w/ flurry, first successful atk deals 7 dmg, then again for 7. hope this helps.
I have this version of Supes, and I think he is the most accurate. IMHO, there shouldn't be a supes without an 18DV. Remember that the higher the defense value, the harder they are to hit/injure. Supes needs to literally have a building fall on him to get hurt. That said, I now know not to listen to the whiner babies. With all the feats out there, you can essentially make any other brick just as deadly. This guy doesn't have front loaded HSS, and thus isn't a hit and run piece, like the Icons Supes is. I see nothing ridiculous about a 238pt. figure being too cheap. When Hercules and Namor are able to shell out close to the amount of damage for FAR less, I just try to avoid the annoying guys that use this guy as an excuse for losing. What about the Zoom's running around for 10 damage????!!!! Yeah, I like this fig alot, just don't like the whiners. Please don't play heroclix if you have an excuse for losing everytime, it ruins the game for the rest of us.
Definitely still the one figure that still makes me go "good grief..." when I see it across the table from me. Modern Age format taking away his feats makes him a tad less intimidating however.
