I'm curious if the isolation chamber story ever happened. I would love to read it just to see if it helped me understand this arc. The Bat-mite appearance is still really confusing.
I think they are trying to imply that Batmite also appeared in the isolation chamber, but was another thing that Bruce thought he hallucenated. Or something like that. Either that, or Batmite IS being hallucenated.
We werent talking about other books that haven't won awards.
YOU brought up Runaways, not me.
And YOU brought up the awards. It seemed to me like Reggie Pants was trying to say that awards are not an accurate measurement of how good something is, especially regarding comic books. I'm sure we can all name a number of good comics that have never received awards, and a number of bad ones that have. You saying that ASBR is incomparable to Runaways because Runaways has won awards is also saying that any other comic book series, from Spider-Man to Batman to Superman and beyond, is incomparable to Runaways.
And then Reggie Pants also, very politely I might add, asked to drop the issue, and agree to disagree. And you seem determined to keep arguing, which bugs me enough that I respond like this.
I've said it before on other threads - you can't argue taste. I, personally, don't like ASBR. And no matter how many reasons someone can give me for why I should like it, or why they like it, why it's good, why it's funny, etc., I still won't like it. And I understand other people feel that way about Runaways.
Not everyone likes vanilla. Most people prefer something else. It's pointless to argue about it. And especially pointless to keep arguing after the other party has already conceded.
I'm sorry if this reply comes across as rude. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, DarkCrisis, as 9 times out of 10, I enjoy reading and agree with your opinion, and I feel the comic forums would be missing something without your weekly threads.
HeroClix needs more Goblin.
Acceptable in such forms as Green, Grey, Demo, Hob, Ultimate, and "Menace."
LoSH 39 Rated 3. Princess Projecta doesn't have a world anymore so she loses her title (Citizen Projecta?) and all her money. She also has all her stuff repoed after she ignored the bill collecters (still have those in the 31th?). At the end she's looting stores. Saturn Girl's using her powers to "bend" people's thoughts (These are not the droids you're looking for.") including Timber Wolf. Oh, and Collossal Boy, Ultra Boy, and Elemental Lad help contain a few thousand green rats.
I disagree with the low rating on this issue. It wasn't action packed, but it did help to advance the story, and now I'm curious as to who was in the control room organizing and monitoring the Legion's activities while Lightning Lad was asleep. One thing that bugged me though... did Light Lass and Karate Kid have a previously established relationship? She says in this issue "I hate sleeping alone," and then tells KK she's going to "take advantage" of him. More of a slutty character than I like for her.

But kinda in character for this version of her. Reread the 1st few issues and you'll see she makes a lot of throwaway comments that imply she's had more than a few fellow Legionaries help her "not sleep alone".

Tarnish
I'll have to check those first few issues out again (my trades are within reach, but laziness wins out), but I still don't like it much. I like Ayla to be a stronger, more independent character than either Garth or Mekt, and I think this detracts from that more than anything else.
Also, I just noticed your feat list in your sig. That is just awesome, and if I can rep you I will. I've been looking for a way to search feats by prereqs that doesn't involve going through them by hand. Now I can do that by just pressing Ctrl+F.

I have been a Legion fan for along time. My very first comic I ever read was Adventures Comic #353.
I too disagree with the low rating on this issue. Although it dosn't deserve a high one... it kept the storylines moving in the right direction and started up some new ones. Not sure who is in the control room but it has to be a Legionare. I have my suspicions that it's prolly Cos. but that's just my two cents.

Absolutely agreed. Just because it's "in character" for this version doesn't mean I like it. Personally I miss the 5 year gap Ayla with the relationship with Vi. But then my "favorite version" of many Legion Characters come from different "reboots". I'm so looking forward to the "Legion of 3 Worlds" story that has all but been strongly hinted at in the upcoming DC Universe #0.

During Batman's near-death experiences in the last two issues, Bat-Mite has acted as Bruce's "Spirit Guide", nudging him towards realisation of how everything fits together. From the story perspective, I don't think we ever know if Bat-Mite is every really there or just Bruce's subconscious putting the pieces together for him. I think that's what makes the appearance work.
It ends with Batman losing the chase on Red Goggles. Then Batman calls Alfred and tells him something big is going to have to happen.....next issue. DUM DUM DUM!!!!!!!!!!
That last scene is Batman covering his ID. Remember, Bruce was "urban parachuting" with Jet when the Bat Signal went off. He intentionally missed his target to give himself time to change and deal with the problem. In the last scene we see Bruce (still wounded) back in his parachuting gear dragging himself into a dumpster and telling Alfred to get the media involved. he wants a big fuss when he's found half-dead in the dumpster to cover his tracks and make it look like stupid Bruce Wayne's gone and done it again.
The book is a trainwreck. And what do people like to do when they see atrain wreck?
Watch.
The best compliment Ive heard for it was something like "It's so bad, I can't wait to see what happens next. It's so outragous!"
This is what I've been saying since this series started. In fact, we all laugh about it at the comic shop. This is hands down the worst Batman interpretation ever. To say that it's a trainwreck is going easy on it. You know, Frank Miller used to have a little writing talent (Daredevil #181 is still a favorite), but man he's completely lost it. He needs to give up writing superheroes immediately and stick with sin city and the like. It's obviously become his niche. I'm awestruck in the fact that some people out there actually take this book seriously. Wow.
That purple face belongs to none other than...BUM! BUM! BUM! THANOS!!! You heard it here first, folks!
BTW, this was a good issue!
I'm thinking it looks like Darkseid by design (so yeah kinda like Thanos too). I'd assume from Gogs many comments and the "mythology" they cover for Gog/Magog, that the head is the Lead diety for "the 3rd world" that came before the New Gods 4th world.
Blue Beetle #24 - Rated 10 - This is the best book I've read so far this week. Jamie's family survived the blast from the Reach spaceship. But how? It was Traci 13, showing up to tell them she's dating their son. And she brought cookies. The family takes off into town in Paco's "Beetle-mobile." Meanwhile, Jamie has been captured and his scarab has been killed. He has no scarab, so no healing ability, and no powers, and he's trapped on an alien spaceship. But he's the Blue Beetle, and the thing about Blue Beetles is that they don't need no stinking powers! Using all the knowledge that was left in his head by the scarab, Jamie breaks out of the prison cell and makes his way to the launch bay, grabbing a ship and flying it through the mothership to the engine bay. Meanwhile, the head Reach guy, the Negotiator, sends some soldiers to finish off Jamie's family. When it looks bad for them, Peacemaker and the Posse show up to help out. And the Negotiator is convinced Jamie is still communicating with the Scarab, but all reports say it is completely dead, and this is all Jamie. And down in El Paso, more backup shows up, for both sides, just as Jamie finally gets to the engine room of the spaceship and enters a code into the system. And the ship can't even figure out what the code is supposed to do. It looks completely random. And Jamie's mother asks Brenda to run and save her daughter from the fight, and Brenda tells Paco to come with, but they get caught in an explosion and it looks like Brenda might be dead. And to make matters worse, they're surrounded. And in the spaceship, Jamie is captured and held at gunpoint, but refuses to back down (very reminiscent of Ted's death). When asked if he has any last words, Jamie says "Just two." Then he shouts "Khaji Da!" To be continued next issue.
Wow. Four pages of commentary on this week's DC comics and Orin's was the only post that even mentioned Blue Beetle #24.
I have a very hard time believing that the latest issues of Countdown, JSA, Teen Titans, or All-Star Batman and Robin are half as interesting, exciting, or simply as good as Blue Beetle #24. I wouldn't know for sure. I had to cut back and I'm not currently buying any of those titles.
When I was buying them, though, there was never a single moment in any of the current runs on those titles that matched the excitement of the Engame storyline that is currently running in Blue Beetle. The fact that this comic, as good as it is, cannot crack the top 100 is as depressing a commentary on the state of American comics as I can think of.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.

They weren't. Countdown was pretty stupid, as usual. JSA was interesting, but rather slow-paced. The best parts dealt with younger characters like Jakeem and Stargirl and Lightning. Teen Titans was okay, but was slow because it's just starting a new storyline. And All-Star Batman and Robin was only discussed this much because people are arguing about how bad it is.
In short, after reading everything else, Blue Beetle is still the best comic I read last week. Marvel's Kick-### was second.
