Thunderbolts is ridiculous. It should be remade specifically to override the old version by making one with new text.
A good solution would be to turn the Avengers into wildcards. The same with the JLA - the JLA always should have been the DC wildcards, because it actually makes sense for them, unlike the Legion. A JLA roster will often include a Batman Ally, Superman Ally, a Green Lantern, and the occasional Mystic here and there. With Major Disaster, you also get the Injustice League (not that anyone would want that...). The JLA might also reasonably have someone with the JSA team ability on their team (Hawkman, Power Girl), even if it won't be keyword themed.
It's almost like the team abilities were purposely made to screw over theme-players.

I don't disagree with you at all, but I do understand why the LSH characters are wildcards. With their time travel abilities, they can show up anywhere, and be part of any event/team/battle/whatever. It makes sense from that perspective, even if it doesn't really work out that way in practical terms.

Exactly! Look at Hawkgirl - Rookie has JSA keyword but not TA, Experienced has the JSA TA but the JLoA keyword instead, and the LE is the only one with both JSA keyword and TA. With the recent reveal of the new Martian Manhunter sculpt, I am wondering now, if there might be some increased traction for the idea of JLI being one of the new ATAs.
Come to think of it, duos could definitely be used to reflect a couple other JLI mainstays:
Blue Beetle/Booster Gold
Fire/Ice
Ralph/Sue
I can't think of any JLI-era characters that would fit into the 25 never-before-made-in-Heroclix category, though.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
I think given we have now seen the JLI intensive sculpt of Martian Manhunter with the Chocos, I suspect we will see it show up as an alternate for JLA.
Another big one would be an alternate for Doom Patrol. Will all original members being printed as of B&B likely, and all having Outsiders but Beast Boy, I suspect we will see a Doom Patrol B&B.
Secret Six is also a likely candidate. An alpha flight like bonus would suit them.
Sinestro Corps is my final guess. All have no team ability, so the card won't be free. I'm thinking something similar to Terrify but toned down some.

For these teams and teams like them, I have my doubts. I wouldn't think an alternate team ability would be released in a set unless there were at least 3 or 4 characters that would qualify for it in that set.
With only 55 characters, 14 or 15 being duos, 25 of them being brand-new, it looks like there is scant room for remakes beyond the big marquee characters that have already been confirmed.
Doom Patrol, or course, needs Negative Man, but all the other core characters have been made. If DP turns out to be one of the ATAs, then either we use the very limited space available for remakes of classic members (possibly as duos?) or we get unmade members. I really wonder about the likelihood of getting Celsius, Fever, Kid Slick, Crazy Jane, Vortex, or Grunt. Personally, I'm OK with anything we get, but I know a lot of HC players would be annoyed with the inclusion of the z-list DP members. Neither of these scenarios are impossible, of course, but both seem unlikely to me.
Doom Patrol options that seem reasonable to me:
1. Negative Man
2. Crazy Jane
3. Nudge & Grunt duo
4. Robotman & Rita Farr duo
5. Kid Slick
6. Celsius
7. Tempest
8. Vortex
9. Lodestone
10. Fast-Forward
11. Beast Boy (remake worth doing)
12. Bumblebee
13. Vox
Secret Six suffers a similar problem, but the non-made members are more recent and well-known, so this is more likely, I would think, than Doom Patrol. If we wanted to include at least 4 pieces to make a Secret Six ATA worthwhile, then reasonale option could include:
1. Ragdoll
2. Parademon
3. Jeanette
4. Bane (a remake certainly worth doing for several reasons)
5. Fiddler
6. Catman/Deadshot duo
I think Scandal and the Mad Hatter are too recently made to be reasonable options.

Alternate Team Abilities for the Secret Six and Outsiders become more likely if keywords aren't required. There can be a Secret Six team ability that works for all Suicide Squad members or a Doom Patrol team ability that works for all Outsiders. Seeing as how this is how many Alternate Team Abilities worked in the past, this seems relatively likely.
I'm in Providence! I've been out of the hobby, but I'm looking for Saturday gaming. Send me a PM if you know the down-low!

Nah, this is still the company that gave us The Society in a set with no IL members.
Four ATAs is a lot for one set (most ever, probably). Seems like odds would be good to get at least one ATA for some group that has little representation in the set.

Well, that's going to screw up all my speculations! Lol.

Don't forget a Harley Quinn remake. She hasn't been done since the Icons starter. She may be on a duo with Poison Ivy, which would probably rule out a Secret Six keyword, but if she's solo it's pretty likely. If the set were a newer design I'd say it was more likely to get her, Ivy and Cat Woman as solos, thanks to the Gotham City Sirens book, but since the set was planned a year ago...
As for some JLI types who haven't been made, well, Max Lord was mentioned. We could get an Oberon figure, not just a pog. There are Blue Jay and Silver Sorceress. I'd love a Driq (sp?), who just popped up in the Green Lantern/Blackest Night. There are the suggested Blue/Gold, Fire/Ice and Ralph/Sue duos.
And for the implied 14-15 remakes, we know Martian Manhunter. Power Girl seems a strong contender (JLE or Super Buddies keyword). Captain Atom, Huntress, Doctor Fate are also possibles in need of remakes, with some variation of JLI, JLE or Super Buddies keywords. And, almost forgot(!), we might get a new Batman, as well. If it's not Grayson, odds are it will have JLI keyword, too.
What I would like:
1) Sinestro Corps
2) Justice League- Not playing favorites, but I would really hope that they wouldn't get something like Thunderbolts. Not against the JLA, I just really don't want to see another Thunderbolts, especially on such a common TA. A JLA Alpha Flight (or something along the lines of that) would be fine.
3) Royal Flush Gang- Who needs it more than these poor guys?
4) Teen Titans- Not absolutely necessary, but I don't love the current TA.
3) Royal Flush Gang- Who needs it more than these poor guys?
But wouldn't an ATA Feat card that isn't counted in the 10% Feat cap feel like a cop-out? Not to mention 18 point cost per character would be mighty high. (and even then you'd be a point shy from 300 even with other feats)
But yeah, a Calculator ATA named Rogues would be nice, it would help all the other Calculator-only teams (Legion of Super-Villains, Rogues, Fearsome Five, Fatal Five, Secret Society of Super-Villains, Royal Flush Gang). (ok, Fearsome has Sivana and Sabbac, but nothing for under 100 pts). I'd prefer it to be TA-based , instead of keyword based, atleast when it comes to wildcard ATA's.
