I'm actually thinking of putting my own The Maxx mod together, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for the base.
Also: I'm assuming you use some sort of modeling putty for the custom bits(?)
Might I get you to reveal which one you used, if this is the case?

if i remember correctly the maxx was made out of the old fantastic forces juggernauts legs, and the mutant mayhem hulks upper body. the head was sculpted by hand using a base, i dont remember which base i used but basically find a small head and sculpt it outward from there.

as for the materials i use, normally it is aves apoxy sculpt. it is a 2 part compund that you mix together. sometimes i use green stuff but normally i use the aves apoxy sculpt.

Any major difference between the aves and the Green Stuff? I've worked with lots of different materials while sculpting, but neither of those as of yet...

i just feel like aves gives better detail, but most everyone else likes green stuff. so its just my personal opinion. i have been using aves for about 10 years or so now.

are those from toys?

yes. the constructs are from green lantarn movie figures. i cut them up to make them more what i wanted.
