seriously dude... this is the easiest mod in history. You can print out the card and use a nickel. If you want to get ambitious, you can sculpt a little lantern and paint it black. Viola~! I intend to mod up every Lantern I'm not able to get. The people paying $50 for a special object? they are the dummies.

Forsooth, as a DC fan I find it awesome that people are willing to pay more for a black lantern than Thor's hammer.

I was, and I spent a £55 on my KC superman. It's just that the lantern itself is just such a tiny piece of plastic mold.

It's just a shame that the game we love is propagated by such a cynical and selfish secondary market where a gesture of good faith on behalf of the production company is turned into a money maker.

Shame man, shame.

Three of these objects were sent to each store... object which cannot be bought.

This creates a supply/demand problem, hence the high price. Even though the paper clearly says "not for sale", there is simply no way to prevent places from selling it.... and it's just as difficult to track down the culprits.

I have absolutely no problem with how the black lantern is being handled. There will be enough legit stores running sealed events to make it a success.

You've never seen people buying "leftover sandwich eaten by Brittney Spears" or "air in a jar breathed by Justin Timberlake." Or "Corn flake that looks like Abe Lincoln!" People buy crazy #### all the time for ridiculous prices. The fact that it's a small piece of plastic doesn't matter. I don't get that argument at all. People want it, they are bidding on it. If people didn't want it, it wouldn't get bid on. If it was a larger piece of plastic that would matter? No.

The big difference here versus the HoT kit is that A) these things were sent free of charge as a "Thank you" from WK and explicitly said "DO NOT RESELL". For stores to turn around and do just that is a total slap in the face to WK and to the stores that would actually use them as bonus prizes. And yet these same stores will continue to get prize support while venues that actually run events get shafted. WK flat out has to fix this distribution method. It simply is not working.

the guys or stores selling this stuff on ebay probably dont run tournies, but i do believe they should have to wait till after the set comes out to sell the pieces, but another way to think about it is that the people spending that much on them is probably because they believe they cant win them anyway, i'll have my lanterns the proper way thank you
