i understand and agree with your points. still, i'd rather see a new dial put on these bases. i know it doesn't hold up 'our' sets, but it does take manpower to oversee a project like this. as little manpower as it takes, i'd still like more focus put on putting out new properties vs old rehash to get new players in.
if you give the established players a reason to buy these, then it's a win/win situation. i guess i gotta take my orange ring off. when i see anything with a clix base on it, i want to use it. if they would have taken the time to put dials on the freddy/jason/gremlins thing, it would have been awesome and more established player probably would have bought it !
To create new dials means that the development cycle has to be interrupted. The new dials have to be designed and tested. That takes time away from the design team. To repackage old product takes manpower, yes, but it takes sales and marketing manpower, no development or playtesting time.
I'd rather have new dials too, but I understand why they are doing this and I'm fine with it. It refreshes the restricted pool with more characters, it helps bring in new players, and it does these things without impacting the development cycle for products targeted at *US*. This really *IS* the win-win scenario.

I have a very hard time right now steering new players toward the Blackest Night starter when the Armor Wars Mega-Pack is available and the rulebook is available online.
That's the huge problem I have with the Fantastic Four starter reprint -- it's impossible for me to rationalize the cost compared to these Mega-Packs.

That's a good point.

Do you think that bane will have the Secret Six key word?
There you go. I've got Hypertime, and Legacy, and a bunch of others. But the Alpha dials were mostly much better than the original dials of those figures. On the other hand, the keywords were so-so. If they keyword these for the larger DC universe, like Secret Six for Bane, then I'll definitely buy. If they decide to stamp on TAs, all the better.
In any case, a mass-marketed product that may attract new players at small cost to the design/production of newer stuff for those of us already hooked is a good move.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I think it might be worth a two-front approach to things.
NECA!WK needs to get the annual rulebook and PAC into players' hands. Online is good but physical is better. So the annual "Collector Set Plus" offering an array of new figures and the latest rules update will probably never go out of fashion.
The Mega-Packs, however, offer a very affordable option -- less than half the cost of the current "Starter." Adding a buck or two for the rulebook, PAC and a reissued map would still keep it at a great price point.
Based on the Toy Fair pictures, they're going to reprint the Danger Room figures. This would be the perfect opportunity to try this approach, because Danger Room is probably the best Starter they've ever made.

very true, but to me it's just a tease, and a waste of time. the money that they are using to put this, alpha, classic and other mega packs could have been used to do something totally new. i know that might have held up production on something else, but look at jonah hex! nothing crazy, nice and simple. why not give use something like this.
like i said, it's only SEVEN FIGURES! if they can't crank out 7 dials to be used with sculpts that are already made, then thats a problem. i'm excited for the future of clix, i'm just bored with the rehash. i think thats it in a nutshell. i hope little kids buy every last pack. my son wants what comes out of boosters. he enjoys opening them just as much as i do. if they REALLY wanna move packs, reprint the chase zombies, and origin chase figs. those would sell like hot cakes!

Aren't you the guy last week or the week before yelling TEST EVERYTHING on these very forums?
I think elfholme and the others have a point about resources and constantly making new product rather than putting out rehashes. These things aren't to my taste (or yours), but they don't have to be. You're still gonna get your 3x a year clix-fix, brother.
Personally, I'm all for these. I luckily have a lot of these Alpha figures, but I think a lot of people missed out on some really cheap, playable dials from a lot of those Alpha figures. Gordon, Alfred and a handful of others are staples on my Gotham city teams.
If you guys skipped out on Alpha, you should pick these up. I think the Classics line is for new gamers and not us really, so I don't get as high strung as some of you when these things get released.
Part of me thinks that if there was, in addition to the Classics packs, a secondary, maybe even direct-marketed Classics Card Packs, that's they'd bolster sales. I'm not interested in figures I already have, but for what can't be anything near a high price, if they released a pack once every few Classics releases of all of the preceding packs' cards [sans figures], I'd pretty much across the board snap that up. Cards are pretty much the only way I keep track of keywords, and are a nice quick way of reminding you who's Modern and who's not [not that it's hard to figure out].
Still... card packs. It literally can not be much to produce something like this. [Getting it into stores, probably expensive. But an extra run of just the cards and an afternoon for an intern to design the packaging? Negligible.]
I like this.
Give me more cards.
Also, I need a World's Finest card if anyone has a spare.

true..i did say test everything. i still stand by that. how hard is it to test 7 dials though. like i said, when i see stuff like this come out, i just wish it had a new dial so the older players could help NECA out and but it as well.
like i said, if they wanna rehash, rehash the chase figs. those would sell out for sure.

Are there new dials on these re-makes?
I've mentioned this before, about mega and battle packs...If NECA really wanted to make these high on demand and sell many, they should break out NEW scuplts and dials. The majority of heroclix players are people that are already into the game. Better to sell more to return players than to sell few to new players, imo. Nicer sculpts would attack newbees too.

I'm not going to belabor the point, but it's not really '7dials', it would be 7 plus 7 plus 7 to whatever the number of packs they were doing. Then, it becomes 'how hard is it to DESIGN and test 7 times x dials that aren't an actual expansion?', which is really the more relevant question. Honestly, I think it becomes a question of time vs. money. Clearly the rehash action pack route is working for them, or else they wouldn't do it, so I say thanks to all those out there buying action packs I don't need.
All that said, I would ALWAYS be in favor of new material over old material. I just seem to be more understanding of economic factors ruling the roost from a production standpoint.
As far as why they won't rehash Chase figures (at least so far), I've got a theory or two on that, but I think the less I say there, the better.
