Thanks for all the support and interest. I have to say this really allows me to explore my creative side and I've been happy with the results when my players show up with these feats on their teams.
So here is another one, in the vein of Snag. How so, you ask? I had a specific figure in mind on this one - Mr. Black Bolt, Inhuman King (and KC Wonder Woman too!)
Defend has always been a super-support power (ok, maybe not when figrues are sharing a 16, 15, or 14 defense) the problem has been its been great for OTHER figures but does nothing for the actual piece with defend. Now on a purely support figure like Invisible Woman, it doesn't really matter. But there are pieces that are made to fight. KC Wonder Woman, Black Bolt, Captain America, Silver Surfer, Zauriel, etc. But that lovely defend, when not being used, is identical to having no powers. So how to make a figure with Defend be willing to engage in a fight?
Reduce damage. Many of these pieces have Toughness or Invuln on their dial, so its within reason they should reduce damage. But how to make it balanced? Easy - make it a tad random. A dice roll reflects the character having been ready for the blow.
Cost was tough, I'll be honest. There are two extreme types of Defenders - those that suffer for carrying defend and those that already push the boundaries of efficiency. So how to make it worthwhile for those that "need" it while preventing it from being a no-brainer for those who we are sick of seeing already (Dr. Strange & R Invisible Woman)? For 10 points, a figure could use Force Field, gaining a reduction of 1. I felt this had more oomph to it.
20 points seemed way too expensive for anyone to use. I toyed with 12 a lot, but that still kept R Sue below 50 points and Strange is already over-played so I went with 15, splitting the difference.
In hindsight, maybe 10 points would have been better due to the roll, but I think every Strange and Sue in Orlando would have been sporting it. Alas, it is not a Feat that gets much play but I think it is a feat that fills a needed niche.
Enjoy.

It's tough because you already have force field and Life Model Decoy in the game. A roll of a 6 for -2 damage is nice but there's like what, 5 figures in the game with more than 3 clicks of defend? I certainly would never play the card for 15 points. I kinda think you're filling a gap forcefield already filled with this one.
One important aspect you might be interested in toying around with. What if they have defend, and there are no adjacent friendly figures? Double prerequisite might be a chance to either pump it up or make it cheaper.

Very true. While LMD has a anti-heal pre req, if I made this today I would drop the cost and definitely use the non adjacent qualifier. I did that with a more recent feat that is for enhancement.

Personally I rather like Defender as it is, except for the chance of adding knockback to already being hit and failing to reduce the damage. If you're paying 15 points for the feat, just the chance that it does nothing on a roll of 1 or 2 seems like penalty enough.
I am quite impressed with your set of feat cards Tyro, though this is the first time I've bothered to post. Right now we're discussing the possibility of voting these cards into use in the heroclix RPSC in the play-by-post forum here.
I would like to see some feats in the same vein as "Starstruck Admirer" and "Immortal Contempt"; that is, feats that require a certain lesser-seen generic keyword as a prerequisite. Any ideas? I have to imagine there is some possibilities for feats built on "Politician", "Reporter", "Kid", "Animal", ect.

Thanks. That is exciting news.
You'll see there are a few already like that (Dexterous and Reroute) and there are a couple more that will be appearing. I have 48 feats already made of which 44 have been given out as prizes at my venue. I am up to 24 posting here (with a few exceptions - as the feats became ATA's so I need them redone and one has a mistake I need fixed).
Those Alternative Team Abilities will be appearing on this list as well - some of which I am VERY excited about sharing with you all. I will continue to look for ways to use the keywords creatively, although I prefer to combine them with powers as opposed to pure keyword only, unless the effect feels accurate with every figure that meets that pre-req.
I noticed the first batch are poorly cropped and I'm in the process of re-scanning them so both the cost and number is more clear. And if anyone wants these e-mailed to them, just PM me.
Thanks again for the encouragement and I will be posting another in the near future.

Hey tyro, just thought I'd chime in. I'm head Marvel editor for the RPSC. With the loss of REVs, feats are the only other option for upgrading characters in the RPSC, and now we rarely get them as well, so these ones are looking like great options.
Love your feats! Very comic accurate. The only one I'm not keen on is Grapple, and that's only becase the Prereq's are far too awkward. Is Wonder Woman the only character that qualifies for it?
Christ did not come to condemn the world, but to save it.
With countless discussions about ways to protect those expensive damage reducers, I thought I'd share my answer to this problem. Behold Durable.
I wrestled with this one for a while, trying to find the careful balance between being a viable alternative for Fortitude while avoiding the must use category (like "Lunge"). I think it works nicely. I added a little extra mojo for Giants, my reasoning being Giants are always highly durable being able to knock over buildings and step on cars without cutting their feet or hands. I wanted to shop that durability even when a giant is saddled with Defend, Barrier, or nothing at all.
I really like this feat card, nice! though I would make it 15 points.

Actually there are approximately 150 figures that can use Grapple, currently. To qualify, you need a defensive value of 16 or lower and Willpower PLUS one of the following: Incap or Super-Strength.
Many feats are designed with a smaller amount in mind as I try and use the feats as Special Powers - ideally trying to go for a specific ability on certain "types" of characters.
Sticking with Grapple, for instance, some top candidates:
V Ult Black Widow
REV Wonder Woman (CJ)
V Banshee
REV Green Goblin (F4)
U Baron Zemo (UT)
LE Peter Parker (UT)
LE Frank Castle (UT)
V Taskmaster (XP)
EV Moon Knight (CJ)
Batman & Robin duo
Judge Oliver Queen
most Robins
most Batmans
REV Mr. Terrific
REV Superwoman
Sunspot
E She-Hulk
Nighthawk
Executioner
LE Arthur Curry
Hawkman
Lashina (one of the best)
to name a few...

Thanks! Here is a post I got earlier today in my album:
Quote
We already have fortitude why make this one. This is too cheap in my opinon? Knock it down to 10 pts and remove Impervious, Invulnerability, toughness. Just Giant symbol and use the last part of the power, "If no damage reducers are use subtract 1 from the damage caused".
See? 18 was about right.
You can't please everyone. I play tested it during the hiatus and it went into production during Hammer of Thor. At 18 points, it gets used A LOT. At 15 it would only see more play, which is not the goal. See my first post - no Lunges or Protecteds ("duh" feats where they are so cheap why wouldn't you use them?) What I like, mathematically speaking, is Metallo + Durable = 200 points exactly.

I think it's just a bit messy due to the 'must have a defense of 16 or lower'. I can see what you're trying to do there (making older figs more playable) but it just comes off as awkward-
Must have either thisorthat plus thisandthis. Just seems like one too many things to me.

I got you. Not all are perfect. It was the 3rd or 4th one I ever made. I've tried to work the writing down while keeping it clear. When I eventually post my Sinestro Corps ATA, the original text was nearly the whole card. I got it down to much lower.
Hopefully its understandable. And with DC75 arriving I expect it to start seeing some play.

Oooo...I am looking forward to the Sinestro Corps. Mine had a specific purpose for the event finale, so I am curious to see what you came up with.
One thing I didn't do that I regret is not including the Manhunters keyword. Good call on yours. Nuts.
Hopefully my Rogues ATA makes up for it. That's a really cool one, I think - and I will be using it this Friday on my Brightest Day Captain Boomerang, in fact.

I like this, but I don't like the +1 when targeting an opposing character in hindering terrain. What is the fluff for that? Are you saying the character in hindering thinks they can't see him? Not sure I understand. You are already taking away shapeshift for 5 points, I think you should drop the +1 bonus for targeting characters in hindering.
