Damage - Invasive Organic Webbing:Web Venom can use Penetrating/Psychic Blast as if he had a range of 6. If he hits, you may place a Web special terrain marker in his targets square after the action resolves.
Looking forward to the Dark Avengers Alternate Team Ability - its the make or break factor on this figure. 3 points is just too little of a difference for the HoT version and the fact he can use Thunderbolts only increases his options.
The LE might be fun, and I do like the transition from Spider-Man to Venom within the dial, but the ATA needs to be really interesting to make him a constructed option.
Nifty, though.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
He gets a 6 range psychic blast and whoever he hits will then have to roll to break away as they get a web token. That's not bad at all
With a 9AV and no TA. He's going to be regulated to attacking support figs, and the PB won't really matter. Or he'll get based and then the SP is wasted.

Edit: Oh, new thought on the Dark Avenges ATA possibbility.
When I first saw;
150 Iron Patriot
117 Bullseye
70 LE Venom
63 Daken
---------------
400 pts
I was concerned that the team was far too even for the ATA to be very likely.
But then I looked at this;
150 Iron Patriot
140 Nor-Var
117 Bullseye
72 LE Daken
70 LE Venom
---------------
550 pts...............5 figs with 50 pts left off for 600 pts.
10pt/fig seems pricy for an ATA but at least I can see a possibility in the builds now.
Good find. Yeah a ten point per figure ATA could be awesome, something like if another character with the Dark Avengers keyword is within 6 squares increase this characters attack and defense values by +1.

Super Strength? BCF? He has options when based as well
He's not a game changer by himself, but he's not as terrible as you seem to think.

I cannot imagine a better legacy for my cousin.

did you mean relegated? Sorry it always bother me when people do that...
But yeah I agree. Even "Toned Down" restrained Mac wasn't that bad in the comics. Again as stated in another post he could still HULK out into Venom.

So from what I can tell from the two previews, this figure has an identical paint job to the black suit Spidey. I don't like that because it feels lazy, but I do like that because in the comics he was presented to the public as black suit Spidey, and he looked like it.
Well like everyone has said, generally speaking for competitive reasons I would take the HoT version almost every time, but I do like the dial and he rounds out the Dark Avengers nicely.
The attack and defense values are a tad low for current trends, but on the flipside this guy has some serious damage output for a 70-point figure (natural 4 seems pretty darn good for the price you pay). Throw "Vampirism" on him (whish is still themey-ish) and you boost his survivability, too!
