Beck you are absolutely right. Nowadays, instead of investing in the heavy hitting brick character, players are more into building teams that comprise of two seperate units. The days of BA and Thor are gone, and there is no replacing them thus far. The Supermen are all to expensive for a 300 pt game as is Nefaria. Now that Flash is the consummate front runner, players either have to poison him to knock him off his 20 DV or have multiple attack options, and hope for a high roll.
Another factor is the cardboard. Now, you have to have more than one dominant mechanic on your 300pt team. If not, a purple piece of cardboard will nerf too many points on your team.
Beyond that, the "pit crew" has also been retired, so as you mentioned in your the previous post. Nice ideas in regards to where to find the support powers for a good price. Personally, I think the game has become more balanced figurewise. Unfortunately, the fun factors gets negatively affected due to the cardboard. High level players are kinda forced to build JunkShot teams to overcome the BFCs even more than their prospective opponents, which makes one look like a jerk sometimes. (Sorry guys?!) It's not about being obsessed with winning; it just sucks majorly to have your "fun team's" mechanic be totally annihilated by a piece of bullcarp cardboard. My rant is over. See ya soon, Beck. Can't wait to play ya!
Well from reading several threads about WWC this is the consenus of what will be played in vomit amounts and potentially dominate Chicago:
1. KC Flash + Feats (with or w/o Sidekick)
2. Nova Blast Emerald Empress
3. Joker LAMP
4. Superman Robots (if out in time)
At first glance most people will yawn at the same old same old. But the elite arctypes are eltie for a reason. All are powerful with high win percentages, they can make an average player better, and have few weaknesses that the best can play with and/or expose for what they are. But they are not the end all be all of the current clix environment. What are easy ways to weaken their effectivness:
1. IIF, Isolation, A high dice roll with the Laser Turret
2. Crosswinds, Disbanded, Longer range w/ ability to see Stealth
3. Poor Teamwork, Bright Lights, Multiple Attackers that can kill LJ in 1 round
4. IIF, PDF, Multiple Damage Reduction Figures
Notice how the first two ways for each arctype are BFCs. It goes back to what E-Sleazy posted about how the cardboard dictates the games and your build strategy. However, if you are playing a different arctype being able to level the playing field with a $1 piece of cardboard is nice (if not lucky). That is how certain teams break into the top 8, but usually never crack the top 4 or win. So, you either play one of the top arctypes and get ridiculled, or play a different team and hope the BFCs go your way and watch the final 4.
Or you can come up with a team that has an answer for everything, does not have a weakness against what will most likely be played, and cannot be hosed by BFCs.
"But you're asking the impossible!" That is the short definition of Captain.
I don't want to play a game of chess where dumb luck or money decides whether or not I get to use a rook... Collectibility is a necessary evil of Heroclix, not a boon.
I'd just like to point out that despite all that I could do at Sunday's tourney (complained about my rolls out loud, mocked my opponents openly (ok I really didn't) and even wearing my Team Vegas hat......) I won fellowship. I know, I know. How dare I???
I pointed the motto to the judge and he laughed. Of course that just meant that despite my 2nd place showing (losing to a Black Bolt perplex team, I ran both Surfers, U and LE) I was doomed to the sweet Clark Kent LE that was fellowship's.
I know you're all disappointed but there was nothing I could do. It was out of my hands.
Until further notice all versions of Superman (including alt. names) are banned from my tournaments.
Lois Lane pogs are highly encouraged to be played on every team. Her dial has errata as follows:
1. She is free to put on any team
2. She has Imperviuos
3. She shares her Impervious with friendly figures adjacent to her
4. She has Auto-Incap, no attack roll needed
5. If Superman or Cyclops is on the board they are automatically Incapped at the begining of every turn. No action token is given to Lois for this.
Can you guess why??? I can't wait for the next Batman movie!
Hey guys this just in... Entertainment Weekly reports that George Lucas is on location in Canada filming the prequels to the Lois Lane Trilogy. The first film is slated for release next summer and will be titled "Lois Lane:The Phantom Menace." Superman is expected to make several cameos, but will not speak, show any "testicular fortitude", or inspire hope in men anywhere... Updates will follow as soon as more information is obtained.

The Team Goes as Follows:

Vet Lockjaw+Protected+Nanobots

Exp Songbird+Alpha Flight
Yes, I succumbed to the Dark Side. I am officially a dirtbag Heroclix player. Bwahaha!!
Yo, this is T Freelove making my first post on the thread even though I'm like #4 in senority of the team. I mean, when you get down to it, who better than the guy who beat She-Hulk by making her miss me with a roll of three and getting everyone else in the multiplayer game to kill the whole team before his next turn? Okay, I'm a scumbag too. Anywho, Watch out for my team of all experienced Skrulls this week. I want some of those cows from Apocalypse on there too if I can get my hands on some.
The Pimp of Team Vegas- Turning waitresses out since GenCon 2013
THE Web - Head!!! *thwip! thwip!*
We now interrupt this Strategy/Tactics Thread with a Special Report...
Heroclix envoy, LuckyMusolino has been found guilty of discrimination. Lawyers representing the ACLU and several gay and lesbian groups are outraged at his current ban on all Superman Heroclix and alternative figures. The aforementioned activists groups cite that this is a direct violation of Superman aka Clark Kent, aka "Bikini Stallion's" basic right of free expression as stated in the First Amendment of the US Constitution. Superman has long stood as a beacon of the "alternative Bikini Stallion lifestyle" and wishes to be played on a weekly basis. Neither LuckyMusolino or the " Bikini Stallion" could be reached for comment. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
