According to the latest PG, it still stands (re: Parasite)
If there was some other game effect that worked off of a move action (as far as I can tell, there is not) you could give Groot one, but, based on the Parasite ruling, I would say it is a no go on the move action
And, as far as Groot's SP goes, do people really want small booklets for character cards?
Or, as Dr. Seuss would say
Groot cannot be moved
Not by your opposing foe
Nor by you, oh my no!
Not by knockback or TK
No how, no means, nor any old way
Or even an action that allows a brisk walk
No, dear friend, Groot remains steady as a rock
He will not run, cannot be chased
He can, however, through a power, be placed
Don't make me rewrite all the SPs in Seuss speak!
(aside: if they dropped the roll for damage for Parasite, he would actually be pretty cool. And playable)

Thats your problem, you think English will help you understand the rules.
Once you accept that it doesnt help you understand the rules you will begin the journey of understanding the rules.

I was going to delete this since that ship has sailed.. But it really is true when trying to understand these rules..

Well if you had an effect that used a move action but didnt move you could definitely do that.
For the same reasons that giving a move action wouldnt cause a breakaway roll unless you actually attempted to move.
However, I am not sure if there are any move actions left that dont attempt to move.
As for the empty power action, I am not sure about that either...

POWER ACTIONS
A power action is an action given to a character that allows it to use a game effect that requires a power action to activate.
Without having an action that requires a power action to activate I am not sure how you would do that.

I must have missed this post the first time it came up.
And yes sir, I damn well WILL make you rewrite all the SPs in Seuss speak as soon as I figure out how to impose my will upon yours.
Groot can be given a move action. He may then *move* up to his full value. The effect of him moving is that he will be moved from the spot. He can still *move* just the result of it (him moving from the spot) is invalid.
Like damage dealt and taken. I can deal Deadpool 8 damage. But if he rolls 5 fro the trait he takes 1 regardless
I apply the movement it just can't do anything. That's just my thoughts on it

This is only because Deadpool's trait states the amount of damage he takes. Normally, damage dealt is still damage dealt after modifiers, then it becomes damage taken.

yes but it has been stated that a movement of 0 is still movement(look at HSS and attacking from your last square, or first square).
Actually, I have master's degree in English, which is clearly more than the sub-high school education of whoever writes the error-ridden rules and powers.
I have master's degree? Should that not be "I have a Master's degree"?
I am probably one of the first to insult other posters' grammar (usually in a light hearted way... usually) but I don't drop the degree bomb.
I am reminded of the joke my stepfather used to tell about a French Canadian co-worker and how, when he saw the words "do not bend" on a package, promptly folded it in half and said "dis is a lie, do too!"
It does not say that Groot cannot move, it says that he cannot be moved. Perplex his speed up/use contingency plan tokens and Groot can move on his own.
Posts like these make me cry inside.
Obsure rules situation question:
Side note on the Groot shape Change question (I dont have the rules in front of me bear in mind):
Groot has colossal sprout, is next to Sandman (WoS) on his 'fail breakaway take damage' power.
1) Groot attacks Sandman.
2) Sandman rolls shape change.
3) Groots only action he can take is a move. Would his Collosal status give auto breakaways? I know all 4x4 or larger collosals state they auto breakaway, but it doesnt say that with Groot, nor does it state he ignores plasticity, so would he be forced to roll a breakaway , and potentially take 1 click from Sandmqn?
