Secondly, do you realize that when game effects like these key off of how much damage is "dealt" to a character it is tantamount to how much damage the figure takes?
This has been one of my biggest problem with the Bombastic Bag-Man ruling from the start. Why have two game terms that are essentially the same thing?
If Bag-Man takes 4 (or whatever number you care to use) damage, then he takes all 4 damage... even if he's on his last click. While this goes for ANY character, it is particularly relevant for Bag-Man, since his trait will dole out damage based on how much damage he takes.
Wow...good to know, bad to hear!
If I make you a trade offer, even if you think it's ridiculous, please at least respond with a kind and simple "Thanks but no thanks."

Because some things modify one of them and not the other. If the damage from that Goliath example went straight to damage taken, then invulnerability would have no effect.

So damage dealt is not tantamount to how much damage the figure takes?

Not exactly, but close.
You have a base damage value of 3.
Then you hit, you deal that 3 damage. So there's 3 damage dealt there.
Then there's a +1 to the damage dealt from the crit. That's 4 damage dealt.
Then there's a -2 from Invulnerability. That's 2 damage dealt.
The only way to get a consistent answer on "What is the damage dealt?" is to use the final calculation of the damage dealt. This results in the same answer as "What is the damage taken?"
Does knockback damage taken happen after the dial stops turning from the live special power? Like if the character takes four clicks, the dial stops turning at two clicks due to the live special power, then the character hits the wall. Do they then take the knock back damage and are ko'ed?

A friend just hit White Lantern Green Arrow for 4 damage. Green Arrow landed on live after 2 clicks. The knockback rules say "a character is moved back one square for each damage taken". Live says "when turning the dial, if this clck is revealed due to damage taken from an opponent's attack, stop turning the dial".
As there is nothing in Live's wording that reduces the damage taken from 4, I'd argue Green Arrow is knocked back the full four squares - in this case into a wall for the KO from knockback. However I can also see the arguement for only 2 squares of knockback, which wouldn't hit the wall.
Which knockback amount is correct?

That said, I'll check on that.
PG:
It refers to KO, but it's really a similar situation.
The Player's Guide now directly addresses this issue and the Bombastic Bag-Man ruling has been extended to LIVE! (this will also apply to effects like Doomsday's Unstoppable).
From the Player's Guide:

The amount of damage a character takes is always considered the total amount that would be taken assuming the figure is not KO‘d or the dial is otherwise stopped while turning.
So Green Arrow would be knocked back 4 squares in the example above.
