If it makes you feel any better Wakandaman, I had a momemt like that yesterday while contacting one of the local stores just to make sure we're not getting the GF today...........
TA: Hi, I have a question about heroclix.
Store: Ok, go ahead.
TA: The Captain Amerrica Gravity feed, the single figure boosters, do you know when you'll be getting it in?
Store: Let me ask.......:talks to someone:.........July 18.
TA:.......are you sure? I'm not asking about the set, I'm asking about the Gravity Feed. It should either be tomorrow or next week.
Store: Oh.............:talks to someone: ..............probably next week then.
TA: .............thanks for your help.
My favorite part was where they couldn't be bothered to actually check............but desided to go with one of the two choices I suggested as possible answers.
Glad I called.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

As an EMT we're trained not to use leading questions (by offering choices). I've found it works on retil folk just as well as patients.

Really?
I've never (well rarely.....maybe 10% of the time, except for the elderly who are generally framiliar with all of the Qs) gotten helpful responses to 'can you describe the pain'...........I ask first anyway but I always have to list the choices.....is it stabing, is it moving(I try to avoid radiating as people seem to key on that word for no reason at all* ), does if feel like pressure.......ect...........tends to help with the on-scene time.
Now that you mention it though, treating retail folk as patients, I might want to try the 'authority voice' next time I am assaulted with that type of sillyness.
Thanks Munchoboy, I'll give that a try.
* It occured to me to ask once after someone told me they had 9/10 radiating shoulder pain and couldn't breath while lying on their back and talking in full sentences (you can see where this is going already ) to ask the patient what they meant by radiating? They had no idea and they seemed to get batter immediatly............funny that.
