Good for mod fodder. Akuma's hair plus, well, the rest of Ryu equals a Super Saiyan... You know, the type of character Ken, Ryu and Akuma were tributes of in the first place.
when street fighter came out there were no saiyans, goku was a little monkey boy with a cloud and a staff and a plot(taken from an ancient Chinese story), they didn't really resemble him besides generic karate fighter clothes, the fireball tricks are similar but weren't in the first game, second game was made flashier so people actually played it

Dragon Ball is based on the story Journey To the West by Wu Chen-en, and is considered to be one of the four great classic novels written during the Ming Dynasty (c. 1500-1582).
Meh, I might pick up a couple or at a minimum the starter pack. But I'm upset by this whole two different sets of figures thing they're doing. I understand (somewhat) why they're doing it. Make it easier to break into the game, create more demand, drive prices, etc. But those of us on a tight budget, I can't afford to be getting all of these. And (at least for the recent GL figs) the starter set figures don't stack up well against their gravity feed counterparts. If you're going to do varying packages of these figures (Starter sets and Gravity Feeds), at least make them the same dials. If you want to put incentive figures only available in the GF, fine, but at least make the ones that are the same have the same dial and stats. Too frustrating.
Might we not arguably have a case of false advertising here, then? If they can't be played with Marvel and DC clix in Modern Age games, they're not entirely fully compatible, right?
I think at the very least, Wizkids needs to make some kind of official statement about all the new properties and their Modern Age "legality," and the reason behind whatever they have decided.
If it's a DC/Marvel thing, dictating the course of the game, I understand.
If it's because they don't want people playing Frodo with Superman, I don't understand. We see much worse on the maps already.

So you're complaining because they're giving us options? Really?
FWIW I disagree with your opinion on the GL figs. The Abin Sur in the FF Pack is far more useful than the GF Abin Sur, and the FF Pack Guardian is Rockin'. At the very least the two versions of those 6 figures give options.
I have no problem with the number of these. If you give them the same dials, the FF Packs become Classics Packs, which aren't nearly as cool and don't sell nearly as well (they pull from regular set demand, instead of complementing it). The ONLY problem I have with SF Clix is the rumor that they will be set up in a CURSR distribution. I'll collect all the GF pieces if they are the same rarity, but not if I need to buy multiple GF Displays to chase after the Rares and Super Rares. I LOVE having a limited number of additional dial options though!

It would be frustrating to buy the starter pack for the rules and map, then buy a few boosters and end up with the EXACT same figures with the same dials you already have.
I think it's better the way they currently have it. Like a spin off of the old REV versions.
DC VS Mortal Kombat will be fun...add a Fatality mechanic to let you try to roll 2D6 after KOing a figure and if you get the right result, score additional Victory Points.
As for the 1 VS 1 rules, it seems like GSX Madrox could prove to be fun ( and if you get to regen after Knocking a figure out.) AN Beast Boy and Wonder Twins can bring a tool box style of play by being able to transform to take on each figure that comes out.
they say it is compatible because it uses the same rules and you can make teams to fight dc/marvel teams, that is why they are saying it is compatible. you know you can play this game for fun and you dont have to always play modern or silver age stuff.
and also to clear some things up what people have been saying about the 1v1 rules
quote from the rules last paragraph on the second page of the pdf:
"alternate play
you and your opponent decide on a total number of points and a total number of figures. Each player brings a forve equal to the point and figure total agreed upon. Players then randomly decide which chracters battle first and which figures battle next. play then proceeds the same way"
I was hoping for something a lot more inventive for the one on one rules. It is pretty much play the game with one figure instead of a bunch of figures, it seems like kind of a huge cop out. But the set does still look awesome and I will just have to try to come up with something more creative on my own.
Well, they tried making a 1x8 square map, but then they kept losing it.

No, because they are not legal for tournament play. They are legal in Golden Age which means they work in conjuction with every other Heroclix ever made regardless of when it was released.
You just can't use them in a sanctioned tournament.
I don't know why they made that decision, but they did.
