While the properties don't particularly appeal to me (as I don't play either game), the value the new mechanics bring to the game ultimately enrich it.
I don't have to have a vested interest in a particular character to use him/her/it. I like the militaristic concept and look of the Spartans and GoW grunts; they compliment the existing and more generic soldiers in DC/Marvel Heroclix.
The larger issue at hand is affordability, given the number of sets released in a short span of time.
RE: CoG TA...ever want to running shot out to hit your opponent but don't want to leave your cover? With the CoG TA you can running shot out, attack then run back into your cover. CoG TA is for hit and run tactics...run out from blocking shot them, then run back behind the blocking. Or even just run into Hindering for that precious Hindering Terrain bonus...
With Running Shot it's sort of like a HSS-lite for ranged attacks.
Without Running Shot, it just helps you move up or move back.
My wallet has to draw the line somewhere. GOW might have some fun mechanics but I have already blown my clix budget for the following year. There are so many wants just based on the info here that I can not justify buying any of these currently.
I will just have to wait, and either trade for a few pieces that are fun to me, or just forget about them till they drop in cost in the secondary market.

For me, it's right up there with cosmic spidey. Game changing it may be, but I play this game for characters, not dials. Being almost completely video game illiterate (since the PS2 anyways), these licenses do nothing for me. But it is cool that the fans of these characters do get some neat mechanics.

If I'm not interested in the characters, then I'm not going to be interested in the clix. I'm definately not interested in GOW, SF, or HALO. That is just my weird thing though. If they made TMNT, Incredibles, or some movie related clix like Jack Burton, Evil Dead Ash or Conan, I might be interested, but even then I really don't like to mix my clix universes. I love Hellboy, but never really used him in my Marvel teams.
Yeah, this 100%.
Way back in the day I got the CoV / CoH set for judging.
Guess how many times I used the infamous Ghost Widow? Yup, 0.
"Mystics" TA, Poison, support and a (back then) really hard to hit defense of 18 plus Regen - she was cheese on wheels especially with Armor Piercing. Highly playable figure - but I care 0 about the character and I don't mix univereses so she would never and never did see play.
Same goes for any of these pop-culture clix. Glad fans like what they bring. Even more glad they are fairly balanced against HeroClix proper (or at least Street Fighter is). As long as that continues players can use them on their teams at my venue.
As for me, pass, pass, and pass. Plus with WK producing so much HeroClix Proper sets I can't afford the Fast Forces from those sets let alone any extraneous stuff.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

Still without running shot if you are in things and start to have a horde of enemies coming...it lets you get out of the way after attacking. Maybe they have their charge blades exploit guy right there within movement to charge you, you get a shot off then run back three so they can't make it next turn...Basically it adds run and gun to heroclixs

I know for a fact this guy isn't anything but a trouble maker. Alaskans!
My only real complaint about Clix right now is that there is SO MUCH new product coming out. Between the GL Gravity Feed, GL Fast Forces, Thor Fast Forces, Cap Gravity Feed, SF Starter, SF Gravity Feed, GoW Gravity Feed and Superman Next month.. it's flat out over kill on my wallet.
Other then that.. I'm always amused at how snobish gamers can get, regarless of the variety.

That's Dr. Smart-@$$, thank you, I didn't spend eight years in insult college to be called Mister.
Street Fighter: I'm a huge fan so course i'll get them. Really sad that 90% of the set is overcost though.... please make a better SF set in the future please. Maybe with more street fighter 3 and 4 characters. And maybe be a bit more creative? Like hugo having an SP that knocks people back with every attack he makes?
Gears: I am not interested in the game at all but the figures look pretty decent. I like that one guy that summons a turret and RAAM.
Halo: Based on what we've seen so far this looks pretty cool. You get a nice army in the UNFC and i'm really hoping to see noble team (ok we didn't get to see much of them as characters but heck some of them we're cool enough people)
Some players have made known their lack of interest/total disdain for the "other" releases, such as Street Fighter, LOTR, Halo, and so on, not because of playability issues, but because these characters do not fit into their arbitrary and linear definitions of what they consider qualifies a character as either a "superhero", or not. When queried about people's vastly varying definitions of what a "superhero" is, I am always side-stepped with non-sensical non-answers. Maybe it's like being a member of the mile-high club, or being "in" with Hollywood's inner circle - if you're not in, you're out. I guess that Ryu, Gandalf, Frodo and Eddie are going to be forced to ride at the back of the bus while Superman and Spidey reap the comforts of front row seating. It's upsetting that these players can't see the forest for the trees, as any sales of licenses that aren't Marvel or DC will still ultimately benefit the game of Heroclix as a whole.
I started the thread that got Bane's venom pump fixed
What I dislike is the people who keep calling them noncomic or out of comic properties...Granted I am not sure if LoTR has had a comic before or has a comic but I know there have been Street Fighter, Halo, and Gears comics. Just because you haven't read them doesn't mean they don't exist.
