As for Chases it does seem that the new standard is going to be 4 chases per set (1 per case) but I liked the 2 chases per set, like Arkham and HoT, better. I'm sure there's some correlation NECA found with having 4 chases per set and increased booster sales but the benefit of only 2 chases per set for collecting purposes, compared to 4, is considerable. Maybe I'm just whining because its a pain to hunt down the other 3 chases (I usually only buy 1 case per set and maybe another 3 to 4 boosters-mostly for booster drafts) but with Superman having 6 less figures in the base set than most previous sets (54 figs instead of 60) and it appears upcoming sets may have even less figs in the base set it means the chases are taking up a larger percentage of the total set.
5 – The number of periphery items in my possession that do not work with the new “oreo base” design. ID bands? No dice! GF9 flight stands? Out the window! Mage Cages? Down the toilet! UltraPro Minis Case? Chuck it on the fire! Arko-Mills Storage cases that I’ve used since the dawn of the game? Recycle ‘em! If we were looking for a solution that made the dials easy to turn without breaking the figure on top, the old “H-bases” that worked with the rings were the secret sauce in my book – just so long as they never used the mold from the “Avengers” set ever again. And going back to that model would have cost exactly $0 dollars, pesos, euros, intergalactic space credits, or whatever. Just ‘cuz it’s free doesn’t mean it’s a bad solution.
Ummm, this should be 6 if you include the web traps from WoS. The bases are too big for the one type.
I am pretty happy with the Superman type characters we got in this set. Yes,maybe Krypto, Red Son Superman, or Kryptonite gloved wearing Dark Knight would have been terrific to have in this set, but overall it was worth getting the super rares and a chase or two to celebrate Superman's history. I will miss the familiar red and blue costume when DC Comics loses the copyright to it next year. So sad...but at least we have some kickass commons and robots to remember the good ol' days of comics!
I bought one booster for $10.99 and pulled one chase Superman.
I bought the entire C, UC, R, and SR set for $275 shipped.
The other three chases with shipping cost me $129.54.
One prize set cost me $48.75 shipped.
For a complete total of $464.28
I had a case and a half pre-ordered, but had to cancel because of funds, I just walked in to a store and bought one booster for the heck of it and pulled a Superman chase. I took it as a sign and went home and jumped on EBay. Winning auctions took about a week. I still came out less then I usually did, but I’d like for it to have been cheaper. I still don’t have anything preordered from the Hulk set.
Let me find the strength to cut back on this game!
