Yeah, see I HATED Voyager because of all the wasted potential that series had they turned a good opportunity into a stale retread of every TOS & Next Gen episode that had come before it. The finale is one of the LAZIEST pieces of tripe and while there are a few good episodes to be had it's not worth watching the 12 episodes of garbage one has to put up with before getting to that nugget.
Personally I can't wait to play some games against some of my trekkie heroclix friends, using galactic characters.
yeah, scale is totally off, but it is anyway, but power-levels are accurate to have Superman, Thor, Beta-Ray Bill or Silver Surfer fighting a galactic fleet. Loads of fun....hope they do other sci-fi properties at this scale....Battlestar Galactica? Star Wars? shame they aren't doing more.
Frankly Heroclix should just be renamed Geekclix and be done with it.....bring on more licenses!
"I love man for all the potential that he holds, and hate men for how seldom they live up to it"
I'm more interested in who I could use these dials as mods for.
Voyager is a challenge. A leader with high defense who get harder to hurt as he takes damage? It seems that I know a character like that but I can't recall who it was...
Yes, I am being sincere about the above. I really can't recall.
Chtang definitely lends itself to a super-speedster with some sort of ranged attack powers who can also fly...not sure what to do with the enhancement, though.
Wow. I remember when Haloclix and Horrorclix first came out lots of people were whining about how they were NOT compatible with Heroclix, and how awesome they would have been if they were.
Now that all the various clix properties are coming out as Heroclix compatible, it seems like everyone is whining about how they SHOULDN'T be compatible. Irony?!?
I understand about flavor, but come on, it's an abstract game system!!
The real problem? This company is now churning out too much product way too fast! I can't keep up. Mark my words, this glut is gonna be the start of the end if NECA is not more careful. But as an avid fan of Starship battles of any sort, I will be buying this particular product. (after all, I bought into the Star Wars collectable minis game when Wizards released that-and that had HORRIBLE game mechanics...but oh so pretty starship minis!!)
But the thing is they ARE compatible regardless of the intent.
But...the intent dictates what can/can't be played in standard HC tournaments.
Someone comes into the building with a team of ships expecting to be able to play them (despite all indications in the solicitation materials that they're intended to be separate games)? Tell 'em no.

Star Trek Craptics are set up like this so you can if you want to.
Sure. However, per WK, they aren't meant to be mixed with standard HC. As such, I won't be mixing them, and won't play against them in mixed play. And, again, I won't feel the least bit bad about it.
I wouldn't worry about the "compatibility," as any person or venue that decides to make them compatible is essentially making a widespread house rule. If that happens, speak with your wallet/absence.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
I used to be quite the Trekkie when I was younger. While this release isn't doing much for me, I'll probably pick up a few just to support it and to play with some of my Trek buddies.
For me this is a good release for two reasons: success means expansion in either a Star Trek: Away Teams release that is tournament legal and composed of characters from the franchise (Kirk vs Batman!) or further ship expansions using different licenses (maybe Battlestar or Farscape or something).
I could see 4 I.K.S. Ch’Tangs being just vicious in a 300 point match and Voyager has NO business being that good. It's like they went out of their way to make the ship good knowing how much WE HATE THAT SERIES . I would have preferred the USS Prometheus or USS Dauntless because those would have given the set some fun pieces to play with. I could see the USS Dauntless as being the Nightcralwer of this set (had they MADE ONE ). The USS Prometheus could have been the the first ship with "give USS Prometheus a double power action and it can take 3 non free actions per turn"
Upon thinking back on the series and the dial, I'm not entirely sure that Leadership is really befitting Voyager, or Outwit for the Maquis on Voyager's crew. If they're lowering the bar that much, they might as well have put a power on there to represent Neelix.
To their credit though the ship getting better as it takes damage is kind of fitting, given the metamorphosis it went through over seven years.
And on a side note, I'm also wondering if future expansions of Tactics will involve ships from the expanded Trek universe; like the Excalibur or the da Vinci.
Also something I pointed out to a friend Star Trek ships are pretty big even a runt like Voyager is bigger than most of today's "super carriers" and given that over a HUNDRED people live aboard Voyager WHY IN THE HELL HAVEN'T WE GOTTEN A SINGLE SHIP WITH . That's WHAT THEY DO star ships carry hundreds of people and sometimes OTHER SHIPS across the friggin galaxy on a daily basis. But yet here is an entire set with ships even GALAXY CLASS star ships and none of them can fire phasers at warp speed while carrying ANYTHING. Even on the 405 in L.A. gang bangers SHOOT OTHER PEOPLE WHILE DRIVING.

Yeah, giving Leadership to Voyager is like awarding the paste eater for not eating his own eraser.
I see no problem with playing the two games seperately or togther.
Yes, the rules are designed to be the same, but the concept is designed to be differently. It's like chocolate covered bacon or beef flavored gum... not meant to be comined, but some will.
As for super strength = tractor beams, think what the beams are used for (it's in the name). They are for towing extra items, ships and so on. Some showes used it to assist in docking. Can the same be applied to the carry ability? Possibly. But this is the first attempt at the Tactics format. Wait for errata and rules changes to fix things (I miss my hypersonic option 2).
I've been toying with the HorrorClix compatability issue and found there are things that line up, things that are similar and things that don't fit at all. As with Tactics, it's a seperate system and not meant to be perfect.
Maybe there will be a "crew' expansion (NECCA needs to ease up on the releases) which is compatible with the HeroClix main sets, but for now it is a seperate game.
Tractor beam should have been telekinesis.Cloaking device should not be super senses. How is ablative armor impervious? That was always the last resort panic moment when they finally pounded through the shields - toughness at the most. Energy explosion for torpedos? Grenade mechanic would have worked well.
Carry/Transporter is useless unless you mix universes. It would up the cost and not benefit trek-only games (everything has flying).
