Stanley Cup Finals are set.
# 8 Los Angeles Kings vs. # 6 New Jersey Devils !
I think it'll be Kings in 5.
I forgot this was still going on. I don't know who is on these teams so I have little vested in the Cup this year. Its very cool to see bottom-seeded teams making it.

It's even sweeter as a Devils fan because they went through the Flyers and Rangers to get there.

Getting to know the Los Angeles Kings :
Forwards : Led by Dustin Brown who is playing like Claude Lemieux when he was the MVP for the Devils years ago. Got Mike Richards and Jeff Carter from Philadelphia Flyers this offseason. Anje Kopitar is another european star that is good but has been oft injured.
Defense : Drew Doughty is a Norris Trophy candidate and excellent player, I expect he'll sorta become the new Nicklaus Lidstrom. Rob Scuderi is there from the Penguins Cup winner just a few years ago and they also have Willie Mitchell who played for the Canucks. They are pretty stacked on D.
Goalie : Johnny Quick is playing out of his mind and is probably currently #1 for Conn Smythe.
The Kings are 12-2, if they sweep the Devils they'd tie the 1986 Edmonton Oilers for best post season record to win the Cup. That Edmonton team had 3-5 Hall of Famers, this team might have 1 (Doughty).
Getting to know the New Jersey Devils :
Forwards : Superstars Illya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise bring the firepower. Elias has been a star in the past and they are getting big contributions from Henrique and Clarkson.
Defense : Anton Volchenkov is the great shot blocker from Ottawa's run to the Finals a few years ago.
Goalie : Martin Brodeur is 40 and has won a bunch of Cups , and owns like every goalie record now, you should know him.
Congrats to the Devils.
I feel happy for the Florida Panthers that took them to 7 games, should take solace in the fact that the team they took to 7 went to the Cup.

The Panthers were the team that I was least concerned about and they gave us the biggest run for our money and for that they have my respect. I figured the Devils would handle them quite easily and I was wrong. Should have known better. When it comes to the playoffs all bets are off.
As a Devils fan living in South Jersey I loved embarrassing the Flyers in that "Gentlemans Sweep". It was that much sweeter when we put the final nail in the coffin against the Rangers last night.
The Kings are going to be no pushovers, but I have faith in my team to bring home their 4th Cup. Go DEVILS!!!!
I thought Game 1 last night was great.
I don't remember that much intensity in a SCFinal since Game 2 of Ducks/Senators.
High intensity 10 shots and 30 hits after the 1st period ? Sign me up !
The regulation goals were ugly but there was a lot of good scoring chances that didn't go in, and the OT gamewinner was awesome.
New Jersey played better that game than any of their previous playoff games this year, I thought Kings would steam roll them.
I'm pretty sure the Kings are going to win it (which I'm cool with as I like a good chunk of their team) but even if the Devils were able to win there are players (like Brodure and Volchenkov) who I'd be really happy to see win.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

It was a good game, but I disagree that the Devils played their best game. They missed multiple scoring opportunities in addition to turning the puck over with their piss poor passing game. I think they played like crap. There is no way Fayne should have missed that rebound goal. Too many missed opportunities, IMO. Looking forward to tomorrows game.

Partially due to the whole "we got stomped out by the Devils"
Partially so I don't have to hear a bunch of Devils fans talk #### about it
but mostly for Simon Gagne, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, John Stevens and Ron Hextall. Go Flyers-West!
You seem to be confusing Devils fans with Flyers fans. Flyers fans talk #### after winning one game. Devils fans talk #### after winning Cups and even then we still don't say too much.
I don't like the Devils chances tonight.............the Kings just played 2 games in the swamp and if they win 2 games at home they can avoid going back............that's extra motivation they didn't need!

Devils not converting on the 5 on 3 was big and at the 2nd and definitely the 3rd goal you knew this game was over. Before the series started I thought the Devils would win the 4th game but after this one I dunno.
Yeah, the Devils looked like crap last night. They were trying to force something to happen instead of slowing things down and playing their game. That first goal seemed to take the wind right out of their sails and you could tell they were frustrated. Gotta give it to Jonathan Quick. The guy is playing out of his mind and is the reason they are where they are. That's usually the way it is though. The team with the hot goalie ends up winning it all. I'm hoping the Devils win at least the next two. I love my team, but I highly doubt they will win 4 in a row.
