I'm guessing a Garth Ennis penned faceoff between The Punisher and Batman would have both of them getting man raped by some creepy Ennis created character because that's what Ennis is into.

Which is ridiculous at best and dishonest at worst.

To humor myself I grabbed my copy of KC, here's a recap of the fight.

CM punches Superman so hard he goes flying.

CM punches Superman so hard he goes flying again.

Superman shoots CM with Heat Vision.

Shazam.

Shazam.

Superman grabs Billy Batson mouth so he doesn't say Shazam again.

Damage to Captain Marvel: None.

Damage to Superman: No cape, costume torn and smoldering, bleeding from the ear, bleeding from the nose.

Oh, and then Captain Marvel throws Superman to the ground in a few pages.

Did Superman stop the fight? Yea. Did he win it? Not by any standard I'd agree to.

The fight was over when Superman decided it was over.

Superman is my favorite, but I actually get pissed when I see writers have him beating up Darkseid. Darkseid should be far more powerful. Likewise, Spectre should easily be able to smack Supes around (and did back in an issue of DC Comics Presents). Just because someone is your favorite, doesn't mean he should win. Jimmy Olsen is also one of my favorite characters, but I wouldn't pick him for a winner in almost any fight. My favorite Super-team is the Giffen/DeMatteis JLI, but the JLA would beat the JLI in a fight any day of the week.

He's also into writing some solid stories, when he wants to.

The JLA/Hitman crossover is a great example of Garth giving superheroes (particularly Superman) their due.

If you think I'm being ridiculous. I am a bit but the comic industry loves that character. I would say Batman is the most popular character in comics. Amazing seeing how he really isn't an actual super hero!! Lol!

Well, it's hard to lose when your character amounts to DC saying "Yeah, Superman beats everybody."

Hulk/Superman from 1999 is the only Hulk/Superman fight I care to read.

In Frank's defense, he's just a normal dude with a ton of training and determination, Batman is essentially metahuman by nearly all definitions. Daredevil is legitimately super powered. In a fair writing scenario where the author isn't stupid biased, Daredevil Punisher crossovers are cool, and a Batman Punisher fight could be really fun.

Won't ever happen though.

I'm guessing you've only heard of Ennis by reputation? Call me a fan boy, but Ennis' work in any series he touches has been fantastic, and it's only when he's taking jabs at the industry that he gets that out there.

Ie the boys, Welcome Back Frank, etc.
