Nah, bring on Angela Bassett!

That's funny, everything I have heard has the third one already in the works. Unless this one bombs, and there is no reason it should, there will be a third one.
Friends one and all, I do not wish to unfocus this thread with my rant. Therefore I will be starting my own thread with the above mentioned title. Everyone who knows me and has said the words xmen and movie in the same sentence has heard this rant several times. I tend to get long winded and don't want to take this thread off it's track, so please continue discussing X2 and how cool it may or may not be.
Making my plans for midnight showing Friday night...
...which reminds me, anyone and everyone who sees it first, make sure you don't put plot points in the subject line of posts, and make sure you mark spoilers carefully for the rest of us.

First of all I would like to say that Halle Berry has little to no acting abilities; and achieves most if not all of her roles merely by the appearance of her body. She is a model, nothing more, nothing less.
Secondly I would like to say that I have little to no respect for Halle Berry as an actress, and NO respect for her as a person. Halle Berry like many other black women in pop culture has whitened her image and her presence to further conform with the popular standards of beauty set by the white majority; she has thrown away her blackness for the almighty american pursuit of money. I hope she's happy.
Thirdly I would like to adress YouCan'tStopMe's post that was deleted. No youcantstopme, this comment was not racist, however it was slightly wrong. Halle Berry won the Oscar not because she was black; for there were several superior performances made by black women. Halle Berry won the Oscar because she performed the degrading acts the audience judges wanted to see: The black woman represented as a #####. They also needed her to stand opposite denzel washington, who won his oscar for protraying protraying a competent black police officer slowly desintegrate into a thug.
And now on with the rant.
Neither Ms. Berry, the writers, the directors, or anyone involved with the first X-men movie did justice to the character that is storm. Storm is a woman who has led many different lives and has been represented in the comics by many different versions. This movie succeded in successfully showing none of these personalities. Her lines were few, what lines she had were poorly acted and most of all poorly written. I will give her some credit by saying her best work was cut from the movie. In the deleted scenes in X1.5 (a waste of a movie rental) we saw that she actually tried to grasp the character and her accent, though poor, was consistent. There shall be applause (clap, clap)
Her overall apperance was poor as well and the most dramatic element of her physical apperance (the white/silver hair) was embarassinly shoddy. The misrepresentation of my favorite comic book character of all time, and the most popular african american in comic books was the sole reason that this movie is not in my collection today. (though I probably will buy it eventually, for most of it was exceptional.)
Ms. Berry has every right to expect better roles for black women, however by saying she had to accept a role as a "mutant" shows that she does not understand the importance of this character in the X-men and esepcially in the black comic book reader community (all 3 of us.) I for one applaude her leaving this movie franchise, whatever her motives. I hope that her role will be reconsidered and recast to someone more deserving. My vote is to Angela Bassett, or perhaps, just perhaps, someone of Direct African Descent.
As for her role as catwoman I will say that she resembles the current selina kyle as drawn in her own series. However being a race-concious individual I will say that catwoman started off as a peurto-rican woman, and too my knowledge still is so. I feel that catwoman should be represented as such. However I will not cause too big of a fuss if she is just played by a white girl with dark hair because of apparent lack of peurto-rican women in hollywood. If she does recieve the role, I wish her luck and hope she takes it more seriously than storm.
Bah, who cares if Halle Berry is in the next sequel. Didn't Storm die at one point in the comic, then get re-incarnated as a 10 year old pickpocket? The character of Storm is easily cut-able.
