I was Louis CK back in "Comedians Mafia" - when we could choose - and I still stand by the guy, even if I played him pretty lousy. (Weren't we just discussing him about 10 days ago, over on FB, DF and Kontrol? Think I was using him as a good example of a comic whom you do -not- heckle if you wish to not be obliterated into the deepest depths of self-worth doubts.)
I don't know if he's a funny guy or a dark guy who tries to keep things funny so we don't run crying and screaming from Life. His various tv series are worth checking out but "Louie" probably is the best for leaving you gut punched and debating all you know.
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Anyone catch last night's Colbert Report? If you can, try and watch the interview with Philip Mudd, it's possibly one of the most uncomfortable - and real - interviews Colbert's done. Dude was a total dick, but he was pretty open

Who's Philip Mudd? Pardon my ignorance. I've been out of the enws loop since I stopped listening to NPR and got back into audiobooks. Speaking of which, The Traveler by John Twelve Hawks was lackluster so I stopped halfway through.

He write a book called The Takedown, basically how the US decimated Al Qaeda. But he was also a senio intelligence advisor at the FBI/CIA, and was involved in a lot of what happened there. Guy first went off on how he doesn't own a TV - which somehow makes him better than others, but then starts answering questions on torture and rendition. Quite uncomfortable to watch, but also enthralling

He's that jolly fat dude from Star Trek the original series who carried a spaceship fulla hot chicks. Which turned out not to be hot chicks after all.

Actually, if they THOUGHT they were hot chicks, they were hot chicks. They just needed the drug to think they were, IIRC.
Also, the next Abrams movie will redeem itself in my eyes if they cast Robin Williams as Mudd.
EDIT: Okay, look, Into Darkness was cute. It was a very nice thrill ride. But the more I think about it, the more I dislike that movie. It's basically the reason everyone trashes the Bay Transformer movies. So much fan service in lieu of actual plot or substance. For instance, if instead of Star Trek II rehash they did something involving Gary Mitchell and Elizabeth Lerner, I'd be completely down with a retelling of that classic episode. But, we got 10 minutes of plot and 2 hours of fanservice and a complete ignoring of any sort of 'real' physics that has been, until now, a hallmark of Star Trek. To be fair, the first movie did it too (how did Spock get such a good view of Vulcan from the COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SYSTEM HE WAS IN?), but the second one was far more egregious in the violations.
