As some of you might know, I have been laid off. As of tomorrow, I will no longer have access to a laptop and I don't own one. Given that I don't have a home computer, it will be hard to get back online - but as part of my job search, I will need to do so. I beg your indulgence and your patience as I get my stuff together and find a way to get back to running this mafia game, which I hope you are enjoying as much as I am.
My deepest apologies for causing you any inconvenience.

I don't know how you feel about a tablet, but Gamestop is selling 1st gen 32GB Nexus 7 tablets for $99 if you can find one, this happened like yesterday so you still have a decent shot. Not ideal for productivity, but much cheaper than a traditional laptop.
I have one, but it's a bit short on the functionality. Hoping to find a deal somewhere...

This is true, thanks. My wife has an iPad 2, so that is an option as well...

Charles good luck my friend in your job search. I hope all goes well for you. I have a feeling you won't find it too hard to find something. Your a smart guy and you have some good experience.
Ok, so after talking to my odl boss about that job at the other branch of our company, I applied. Turns out he's the hiring manager and he will see what he can do about meeting all my monetary requests if I get chosen for it, which it seems I will. Now I have to decide if a small raise and excellent benefits is worth driving 112 miles and 3+ hrs each day.

That's a tough sell. I drive roughly that much on Wednesdays to take my son to pre-school and it does sap your energy. Do you have any interest in relocating if you get the job and it looks to be stable for awhile?
Can't advise you to do that Stan. A long commute may seem okay for a month or two, but after six months of losing 3+ hours of your life every day in a car, you may begin to have some issues.

Hey all. I wandered off for a while, but I'm back and looking to play some Mafia.
Hope everyone is well.

Look what the cat dragged in... Was wondering what happened to you every time I see you on my friends list in Marvel Avengers Alliance. Welcome back SPWT!

Yeah, that is a breaking commute and gas prices aren't exactly great. Honestly I'd sit down and do the math on how much more you make and how much more you will spend in gas and vehicle maintenance.

I could, but the Elio only goes 0-60 in 9.6 seconds.

We just put an expensive addition on our home. Plus, I moved my dad closer to me to minimize my inconvenience. It's also farther from my in-laws and most of my buddies. So no, relocating is not an option really.

I have to seriously consider it if I do get the offer. I hate these tough decisions.
Check buses, too. Hard when you are responsible for daycare, but when I had to commute from Colorado Springs to Denver, I found a bus that dropped me off a block from work. Very convenient.
