LE sigh, I keep wanting to get a pack of these but noooooo.
Sad but I'm almost about to give up on Star Wars
Meh, just pre-order and then forget about them and enjoy Attack Wing and it's on schedule releases (I know, crazy, right? ) and then some day........eventually, you will get a call.
And that call will be for a free cruise. Which is obviously a scam and you should ignore it.
But another day, you will wake up have some coffee maybe some breakfast depending on your mood and then you will get a call.
And that call will be about if you are happy with your long distance provider.
But eventually, after all of those other calls...there will come the call....and it will be about the Aces Pack. And you'll have to go back and check the preview because you forgot what was in it......and when did it they change it to be the Imperials.....wasn't it a Rebels expansion? Odd
And then you will get them, and they will be glorious.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

Sad it's mainly the whole reason I haven't ordered stuff from cool yet as I don't know when they will ship and I want free shipping!!
I really did feel for the guys who bundled their Wave 3 order in with the Starfield Tiles. I'm not a huge fan of pre-orders. Don't like having that money in limbo.
The reason the Aces is not ready as they have no idea what they are doing. This is a simple game that they keep delaying over and over. If they had a clue they could in fact have it ready. How hard is it to make ships and cards? Before it was announced they should have had a foundation to build on. There should be something there to work with? When was it supposed to be released? Last Nov? People have been complaining about that delay since I got into AW. And don't give me the "they are trying to make it perfect" line because it is bull. Either they have no idea or they are having problems with the people making the items and if that is so they need a new source. They own the molds (worked in injection molding for years) so they can move them. Contracts can be worked quick if needed. I see over and over again on these threads complaints on how they keep running out. This shows a lack pf professionalism. If your source can't produce then you change sources simple as that.
These kind of delays can kill a game. If it is always delayed time and time again people will stop caring and chose to spend their money elsewhere. It does not matter the product. If you cannot produce it will hurt your sales. Don't believe me? Get ahold of the original Image people and ask them about Deatmate Black or Whilce Porticco and Wetworks.
Not trying to be a jerk but it is not fair for those of you waiting and hoping for these things. They should explain themselves to you guys the fans and consumers or one day POOF it will be gone. Disney owns Lucasfilms which owns Star Wars. FFG is not just messing with a game they are messing with the Mouse who will if provoked crush them. The hold the license for now but like many things it has a play or pay clause. they don't do as they should they lose the license and then make up the cost in lost sales.

What more do you want them to do? They already dropped their other miniature line. While they are claiming it is for the betterment of the game, I'm willing to bet devoting their factory time is a large part of it. And unlike Wizkids, FFG has a LOT more products in the air.
As for getting their stock levels right, I think that Wave 3 is actually still in stock is a good sign that they are beginning to get the right ideas of how much to produce. Yes, the 2-3 month delay really sucks. But what is the alternative. Rush out product that doesn't meet their high standard of quality? Wave 2 got pushed back because the Falcon ended up being more difficult to assemble. And I will mention, that Wave 3 met their announced predictions.
And really, I doubt manufacturer problems is going to cause them to lose the license. They are doing exactly as a licensor should, propping the brand. All three of their Star Wars games are selling well. In the end, there is enough to keep me occupied until the Aces and other stuff releases. Lots of squads to experiment with. The Aces are not adding that much variety to the game.
Yes and no. True, that some games do die off and it is due, in a large part, to delays. HorrorClix and Monsterpocalypse are prime examples (although, with regard to the latter, it looks like that was already doomed before the last wave was even completed).
But Star Wars is a different animal altogether. It's fan base is HUGE and isn't based on some made-up or knock-off IP. Star Wars merchandise has been around and selling strong since I was 8 years old. I don't think a 2 month delay is going to kill off the game or cause Disney to revoke the IP.

EDIT: In happier news, Aces is on the boat.
If Saturn can rediesign an interior of a car, get the diagrams done, molds a made parts produced, asembled and on the show room floor then FFG can in fact get things they have planned months ahead ready to ship and in stores. I worked in injection molding for YEARS, I know how it works I know the time it takes to get done. And if it is not resculpts of ships then it is cardboard or papers and that is even less on an excuse. Comics take 3 months to get to the store from the point it hits the order for until it is sitting on the shelve. Saying they don't want an inferior product means they were not even ready to produce the items and should have not announced it. FFG does not make their own pieces, they are a design company. Like most other companies that you buy products off of they are made elsewhere and in many times print for need. The problem that they are having is internal and are either the designers have little idea what they are doing or the person in charge of getting the product to ship is incompetent and should be fired. They are in business to make money and each and every time the delay it costs money,

Little fun fact, the delays in the RPG already has Disney looking at them. There have been problems before the purchase of Lucasfilm, they have been looking elsewhere. The slow sales of the RPG is hurting the line. Also X Wing has direct competition it is called Attack Wing. They have put out a great many ships at this point and plan 7 more waves at this point this year. Yes I know they have the sculpts for many of the ships done already but the thing is it is a viable product that they release on time and for the most part, except for a hip or two, they get when they are supposed to. Many (not saying you and your mileage may vary) are dropping X Wing because of the delay and what I understand is a lack of ships. The duo Factions is not helping either. I had three players come to my venue yesterday saying they were selling their stuff off (if they brought some I would have grabbed items) and a major retailer supporting them are clereancing off items. Yes they do this with toys all the time but this is the Core set. Think on that

Except the clearences are not company wide at Target. For every report of the core set on clearance at one store, there is another the seems to report that is isn't at their own. It seems to be a regional decision, and like all such reports of sales, tend to be different in different areas.
I don't know how you can comment on their production issues, unless you are in China. They did well on Wave 3 in terms of it being on time. So for now, I'm willing to give them a little leeway. Things happen from production to the trip over here. There tends to be a reason why FFG doesn't give release dates.
How do you know they are in trouble? Sure, they've had a few issues in getting their Star Wars games out (not sure about the RPG, but the LCG had to be redesigned). But once they are out, they are SELLING, which I believe tends to be the bottom line. And until Disney buys a company in the same market as X-wing, the LCG, and the RPGs, I'm not convinced they will have issues renewing their license.
As for your issues with the game, issues with only 2 sides? Really? This is Star Wars, not Trek. Good vs Evil tends to be the focus. Only 2 sides is perfectly in line with the Star Wars theme, no matter how many people want the side random EU factions, who will only be able to support a handful of ships.
No doubt that the reprints seem to cause some havoc on their manufacturing time. I'm not sure how many languages, or whether FFG's partners manage the manufacturing of translated products on their own.
Honestly, it would be fascinating to get a better idea of their production chain. FFG has so many balls in the air, it would be neat to get a better understanding of where and how all their different products get made.
I had three players come to my venue yesterday saying they were selling their stuff off
Well, if you're going to judge the doom of the company and game line on anecdotal evidence...
Yesterday I went to my clix tourney. As I'm walking out of the room in the back (where we play) between rounds, I see a couple of guys looking over XW, AW, and Wings of War/Glory as they are all in the same area. One guy had the Slave I in his hand and was looking over the box. As I'm walking by I said "that's a great game". That led into a conversation about the games and me showing them my XW stuff (I tend to take it with me in case anyone wants to get in a game... I'm getting tired of just playing clix). They finally ended up buying the XW core set. At the end of the day, as I was leaving, the owner told me that they came back in and bought two other ships.
Now, before anyone says I trashed talked the other two all I said was that I didn't really know much about Wings of Glory and that the biggest difference between XW and AW as that in AW pilots and ships can be mixed and matched. They weren't showing ANY interest at all in AW however... they were going to buy either XW or WoG.
So, there you go. Based on sell outs of waves and the fact that new people are buying the game, it's doing just fine. (My anecdotal evidence vs yours.)

Ok without saying too much that will in fact get me in trouble if it does come back to me Disney is in fact looking at possibly adding a game company to the portfolio. I do know that talks are going on with one particular company and if they do add it to what they own it will be in fact HUGE. In case you happen to live in the RI area and know a place that sells potatoes or put up statues of potatoes then this company could be a good place to invest.
And on that I will say no more
One of the complaint I have heard that another faction or two would be interesting. There are NOT two factions in the Star Wars Universe, at least until Disney does finish with the axe. You do have the Black Sun, many kinds of Hutts, independents of all sorts and the two groups from the horrible prequel movies. I would love to see some of those, well not the ones from the prequels.

Not trying to go for that but how about this, Comic Kung Fu sold 3 copies of X Wing, each one of the people who purchased them have no sold them (I did get one but missed the other two) The venue north of us had three players come down they are the ones who told me that were selling there stuff (the ones I wanted to buy from) and said more than a few (I have no exact numbers) were dropping the game. The venue I judge at has sold 1 kit and three or four kits which went to the same two guys, no one else plays it. At both the local stores the RPG sits on the shelves untouched. We had a player drive out from DC who also was dropping X Wing along with the group (four or five players) had long discarded their pieces. In my FB group many people are trying to sell or trade off their pieces. So that is three venues, a group from DC, people from parts of Phoenix, somewhere in Iowa, a couple states in the middle of the country (Oklahoma and so other place that is flat I forget where) and a good deal of places in the UK.
So that is the kind of data I have. The problem is you seem to take this personnel and also seem to think I have against the game. I AM TRYING TO BUY INTO IT TO TRY AND GET IT GOING. I do know that two people at MLCS did in fact order the big ships but that is not to play but collect.
I am not saying one is better than another I am just saying if FFG does not step up their game and get out product the people may flock to AW because it has a plethora of ships and new product or if they cannot get out the product like the agree they may lose the product and it will go elsewhere. For you and the die hards I would hate for this to happen because if it goes elsewhere and they do decide to continue the game it will take a while for it to get to you.

Not at all. But you seem to think that your points of "data" that can be counted on your one hand are indicative of the health of the game overall.
On one hand? I am talking dozens of people not three, four or five but dozens. I know how you post, I have seen it time and time again and this is going to go nowhere. You will not, as many times in the past, will say that you are not right. You will not compitulate or give even an inch because you have decided what the truth is and no one can tell you otherwise, my wife is the same way so now I am exiting this converstion as it is in fact going to go nowhere. When I first came to this section of the boards your fanaticism of how much better X Wing is over AW and how you go thread to announce it shows me the way. Hope you get your things.
Have at it.
