Freedom Force was incredible because I can skin, mesh or hex edit any comic character ever created into one giant battle royale.
I keep an old windows 2000 machine in my den to keep playing this. I love playing Lobo against teams that are Flash Gordon, Spawn, the Tick and Captain America.
Man, they should make a miniatures game that covers a topic like this!
I never got how to do all that, so that's likely why I don't still play it. However, the best moment in that game by far for me was the first time I had Minuteman grab a telephone pole and play baseball with civilians. MAN that was awesome!

The game has an active albeit dwindling online community. Some of us still produce new meshes and skins.
Given that anything is malleable in that game and with a little basic programing you can alter special effects and sounds, you can make any character fairly realistic in game.
Back in it's day I would have killed for a Freedom Force collector set of clix.

Huh. I was never able to find an online game, but I'm assuming you're talking more about the skin and mesh production. Either way, I feel like I should download it again when I get home. I still have it on Steam, but good luck downloading anything out here. I'm so desperate for games I'm using CDs, people. CDs!
Right now, I'm playing Sid Meier's Pirates again. Forgot how much fun it can be to invade multiple Spanish cities, give them to the English, and be promoted somehow by the Spanish anyways.

Yeah, was talking about the community and not online gaming.
Loved Sid Meier's Pirates. I also like the movie with Jesse Jane.
I don't do this "Steam" thing but if it has old games, take a look for a sleeper game called Impossible Creatures that never took off commercial but has a lingering following.
That game and Freedom Force are the only things on my old reliable 2002-purchased Dell running Windows 2000.

Steam has a ton of games, and often has sales and such. Since I don't really play a ton of video games anymore, it's pretty useful.
