View Poll Results: Which HeroClix comic license did better in 2014?
as much as it pains me to say because im more of a marvel fan id say dc did better this year. I loved superman and legion of superheros and war of light... as well as the justice league strategy game.
very hard choice but i think dc had a better year. overall i like the sets better then the marvel sets. deadpool was cool, but not cooler than SLOSH. i just loved SLOSH and flash more overall then the marvel sets.
i will say the zombies, skrull love and the beyonder almost made me vote marvel. i just think overall the figures work better together and sculpts look better. tough choice, but dc gets it. both darkseids we got this year can kill just about anything marvel put out!
@antonio.clark.art is my instagram.take a look and tell me what you think....be blessed!!!
Yeah, events that culminated during WoL ended any good feelings I had about this game and playing it anywhere beyond my house. So, even though it was a cool set and the LoS and especially the FF from that set were really nice as well, I haven't bought anything but singles from Flash. Deadpool and DoFP pushes Marvel sets way over the top, and Guardians is just gravy, man. Marvel wins.
Iron Man was very clearly a 2013 set, but a full half of the AvX event was still in 2014. 2014 is when we got the complete resource, more prize LE (including the grand prize) and the participation prizes (including the team bases). I don't think it would have been fair to start the year with Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes when AvX was still ongoing.
Heck, I think I was playing month 3 of AvX with SLSH boosters as the sealed portion at some venues.
True, but I kinda align Iron Man an AvX's "set" since it's what the majority of our venues played for the sealed component of the campaign.

Great year for HeroClix fans. Not sure if I could vote for either as it could very well be a tie.
Marvel Side:
AvX was weak sauce, in my opinion. Faced the same thing every week.
The Cap Movie set gave me my favorite Captain America - a huge plus.
Deadpool - a character I don't care about had an amazingly fun set. Speech-Bubbles were a great idea, fun side-characters, interesting powers - I really enjoyed the set.
DoFP - brotherhood!!!! Pyro and Avalanche are outstanding! I love the Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Storm, Angel, and Sprite, too.
GotG Movie Starter is unbelievably perfect.
GotG main set - gave me a neat Beyonder and Inhumans!!!!
Flipping to DC:
Slosh was solid. Superboy is definitive for me and the Legion is sick. LoD, however, makes this an AWESOME set. Giganta, Cheetah, Bizarro, Black Manta, Grundy - so great. Just typing their names makes me want to use them.
WoL - I had a blast playing this. Best resource design to date - sans Green's Emotional Spectrum. Set gave me Laira! And a good Mongul. I love the Entities - much better balanced than any resource by far.
The Flash - more villains - and fun versions! Mirror Master, Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd, Weather Wizard, et al. Great stuff!
Going through this post, I think I have to give a slight edge to DC due to the villain-love.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Really enjoyed GOTG, Deadpool and the Marvel movie clix. WOL was awesome and really enjoyed how the series went. The Flash set at the end of the year was what made me choice DC (even though I'm a Marvel fanboy). It seemed that so many people were looking past this set for the Trinity War set and it caught me off guard. I'm really enjoying the Flash set much more than I thought I would. So many great pieces from tent poles like KC Flash to one of my all time fav support pieces the STAR Labs Tech.
I'm not saying they were bad sets, but DC delivered so very little that I cared about this year while Marvel gave me Deadpool and had the incredibly awesome Winter Soldier set.
War of Light (the comic) basically broke me of buying anything by Geoff Johns ever again. When he helped reboot the DCU, I stopped buying DC comics, so I think I bought a total of 4 DC boosters and the LoD Fast Forces for the whole year.
So I have to give the edge to Marvel just because it gave me sets and figures I actually want and want to play with.
I'm a huge Lantern fan, and a huge Legion fan, and always liked Flash (and especially his foes) a lot. So I voted DC.
OTOH, I also like Marvel Cosmic a lot, and Byrne/Claremont era X-Men a lot. And I loved Unclixed characters of all sorts. So in a year pretty heavily stacked toward my specific DC preferences, Marvel Clix were awesome too.
This has seriously been the best year of clix releases so far, by a wide margin.
I voted DC. War of Light is a major factor, but add in two other excellent sets in SLOSH and Flash with a couple of fun Fast Forces, and they had a very strong showing.
On the Marvel side, the Guardians of the Galaxy set was their strongest offering. AvX too many boring same old characters redone. DOFP and CATWS had some great figures, but again too many of the same characters. And then Deadpool, granted went the other way, with a ton of never before made characters, but in a pretty narrow field. Having only read Deadpool sparingly, too many of them held the “Whozzat?” factor, for me personally.
I am a DC fan but Marvel got the buzz. Although I am still not sure why, Deadpool was huge
And, although it is late 2013, IIM gave us Iron Pharaoh. Then the X-Men set gave us lots of figs with play 'em together for synergy and Spiral, etc. Marvel gets cheaper, more team effective pieces all the time
Some say DC gets the power pieces but, in reality, DC gets the higher cost without the general use. We got a few more Superman silver bullets but Scarlet Witch can shut down any team ability
