welll...not to out-nerd you but according to the marvel universe guide as well as the marvel universe page the "suit" or symbiote enhanced a persons strength level. if i recall a page from one of the comics where he had the suit he said something like "wow i used to have trouble lifting a buick" while he was lifting a car, or somesuch. but yes the alien enhances the person wearing it. but still an awesome spidey. though i dont know why he doesnt have super strength his entire dial.
But the symbiote was also feeding off of him, draining his strength, leaving him tired and run-down at times. The traditional red and blue was just cloth and thus never had any affect other than making him look fan-damn-tastic swinging through the city.
May all your hits be crits!
On the whole, human beings want to be good — but not too good, and not quite all the time. - George Orwell
Heavy defense with super senses, 19 defense (20 against range attacks) and 50 percent chance when hitting foes with range attacks that they can't do anything. Also shape change makes it nice.
For the points this is easily the best Spidey ever made. The problem with past Spideys is WK thinks he should be a 100 point street level hero but his in-game powers cost way more than that, so they cost cut by leaving out powers he should have. Look at Superior. Similar dial to this but 40 points more in large part because of the support powers. Peter should usually have Outwit/Perplex, but black suit was a more ruthless Spidey, so they forgo the support but give us a definitive Spider-Man in terms of combat. Indom, Improved Movement everything, 2 bolts, high evasion, defense no lower than 18 (except the regen click), full dial Charge, late dial Flurry/Super Strength, passive webbing effect, wild card, and traited toughness (FINALLY!). The symbiote's weakness also helps lower the cost, but this dial easily brings everything you could want in a black Spidey and is a couple clix of Perplex/Outwit shy of a definitive red/blue version. The only reason he won't be on every team ever is a serious lack of keywords I play regularly.
Finally, an amazing spider man worth playing competitively!! I dig the webbing special power! Never seen this in another character, can't wait to use that. It can be probbed, so wondering if it might cause a similar situation as Faust. But I think since it only affects the hit character its a more balanced use of a cant do much sort of effect.

This is definitely my favorite Spider-Man piece. I just wish he had Running Shot instead of charge on those first 3 clicks. Seems like you would want to keep him at range on those clicks, then switch to charge on the last 3, when his symbiote-induced aggression kicks in.
Other than that though, he is Amazing and Spectacular.
Has to be my favorite Spiederman... hands down. Sculpt and Play ability are both on point. If I could just get a few of these repainted as ALT Spidermans!

Played him in a 300pt Spider-man Family team against Kid Flash, Black Flash, and Zoom. Do not underestimate (or forget!) his webbing trait. Ran him with the 65pt Black cat to share defenders and that 19 def top dial shined even brighter.

modern age 200 points: him, black cat at 65 each with spidery family ata. At 200 points, no one has the necessary stats to deal with their outrageous defenses stats (wildcard spidey to defenders). All around great spidey who really is incredibly hard to hit. His built in weakness also revolves around ranged attacks, which means they have to hit his 20 to even try to get the extra damage off.
I just got the chance to play this guy in a 500-point Golden Age tournament, on a Spider-Man Family theme team with Scarlet Spider (ASM), 2099, Agent Venom (OP kit LE), and Black Cat (with a few feats tossed in as well). I swept the tournament, and this figure was easily the MVP for the day.
In the final round, I faced Ziran the Tester, the High Evolutionary, and a Hayabusa Knight. Ziran proceeded to tear my team to shreds - Agent Venom got in a single click of damage on Ziran, and 2099 got a click on the High Evolutionary - that was all. Everyone was dead on my team in short order - except for Spider-Man. With the Shellhead and Vendetta feats and my dice rolling hot for Shapechange and Super Senses, he didn't even get knocked off his first click - managing to whittle down Ziran one and then two clicks at a time, then doing the same against the High Evolutionary. He simply could not be hit! One solid blast from Ziran and it would have been lights out, but that blast never connected.
When the smoke cleared, Spider-Man faced down the 35-point Hayabusa Knight, knuckles still dripping with Celestial blood and cosmic energy dissipating into the air, and I'd like to think the knight wet himself. Terribly frustrating for my opponent (who was, to his credit, a good sport) - on my end, incredibly tense and likely the most satisfying game of Heroclix I've ever played. Any mild reservations that this wasn't a top-tier red-and-blue suited Spider-Man were laid to rest - I might almost feel dirty fielding him on a team after today!
All in all, an amazing (spectacular, sensational) figure that finally feels like a top-notch Spider-Man.
