I'm going to toss in "The Unwritten" as a good series for introducing people, especially for those who love reading but are unsure about comics. Amazing series.
I'm biased but I also tend to push heavily for the original "Hellblazer" run (not so much the nu52 "super-hero" version; I still read it but just saying it's not one I recommend).

Funny, I just could not get into The Unwritten. I think I gave it 3 or 4 issues and it just didn't hook me. But my wife also being a Harry Potter freak (yet again her Fantasy team(s) are Deathly Hallows), The Unwritten could be enjoyable.
All this talk about comic recs though... I haven't bought a comic book since Fear Itself was out (other than TWD trades), so I'm not really one to talk.
"Why would the possibility of me being wrong ever stop me from doing something?"
(Caveat: I give Mike Carrey a chance on anything. The man made freakin' "Lucifer" into one of the great series. I can't get enough of his Felix Castor novels even though they borrow more than a bit from his time on Hellblazer. So I was willing to stick through those initial issues of "Unwritten" until it gets to no holds barred gut-punches.)

Which parts of Hellblazer are you a fan of? It's a long series, I don't know where it makes the most sense to start.
Ugg Keep looking up these reccomendations only to find out the library only has incomplete collections of these series due to people destroying them ARGGGG

Now if we're talking comics recs for you Darq? I got more than a few. Hit me up in PM if you wanna.
Heh, I appreciate it, but I have a stack of Daredevil Shadowlands comics that have been in my desk for 4+ years that tells me I won't be getting to comics anytime soon. Have fun with the Lil' Icicle

Just do what I do: ignore that you're years behind and keep spending a couple hundred a week on books. Then switch to digital - while still getting real versions - because you figure you'll read them easier that way and soon find yourself with...eh, about 30K (number, not value) of items in your Comixology account. Look and see if there's help for comic addicts and then say, "Screw it. At least someone will eventually read then unlike if I drank it down every weekend."

Sorry to quote myself but I will note for anyone really curious, the short answer is "Swamp Thing". That seems coy but if you want to watch the full cycle of John's transformations, you have to start with how he was originally envisioned.
