To be fair, I made myself sit through the excruciating, visit-to-the-dentist-to-get-a-root-canal mess that was Jessica Jones on Netflix. (The only saving graces of that series were the intro of Luke Cage to the Marvel TV universe and David Tennant who played one of the most loathsome villains ever. Then again, Tennant is brilliant, so there's that.)
I figure I owe Twin Peaks a better shot than I gave JJ.
How DARE you sir!
Though, I do agree on Twin Peaks to a degree. While I didn't mind the surrealism so much, it is very slow paced, particularly by modern TV standards.

How dare I speak the truth about Jessica Jones? Guess that I was not the show's intended audience, thassall. That's 13 hours of my life that I ain't ever getting back...

The fleshing out of the characters is interesting, I will admit. Seems like everyone is up to some kinda dirty deed. It's when the plot twists start getting telenovela stupid that it loses me. Which is why it's a crack-up that the soap opera "Invitation to Love" keeps playing on all the TV sets, seems like.

Did you really dislike it that much? I will admit that it's not my favorite. Daredevil is clearly a superior show, but I think my hang-up on Jessica was the psychological aspect. It was a little darker and more twisted than even I care for.

Yes, I really did dislike JJ that much. I went into it with good expectations. I loved Daredevil, I heard that Luke Cage was going to be in his own series after JJ, and that the baddie was gonna be played by none other than David Tennant.
I never thought that the show would be so frickin depressing and the main character so full of self-hatred. Okay, maybe that was the point, but seriously man. Again, this was a BMB character and I don't like his stuff in the comics. I won't put myself through a second season of Jessica Jones.

Though everything that Peter Dinklage has done (so far) has at least been entertaining.

I am giving it a chance, believe me, but it really is a chore. Fortunately the first season is just 8 episodes long. I am not sure why but David Lynch is one of the few directors/writers who tend to piss me off. Like the whole scene with the FBI agent's surreal dream that featured a weird-looking-and-talking midget in a red room. I just have to take it in small doses - and so far very under-impressed.
The show kinda finds all its gears in the first half of the second season. Then something big happens, it teeters away from being good for a bit, then comes right back to a finale that will have you tearing your hair out.
Which is why many of us are excited that they're bringing almost everyone back to continue the show.

As I mentioned, I'm not ready to chuck it all away. I went into it knowing that David Lynch is.... well, David Lynch. There must be a reason that Twin Peaks became such a cult classic. Just have to figure out what that is... Like Fox Mulder often said, "I want to believe."

Not much to say, save that we can agree to disagree. After all, there are millions of Twilight trilogy and Fifty Shades of Gray fans with whom I shall never see eye to eye. I can only speak for my own likes and dislikes.

I suspect it had a lot to do with Dale Cooper being awesome, and Audrey Horne being pretty damn hot. It also just had a little something for everyone in the room. There's always parts that I didn't like, but someone else would really appreciate. Far from today's modus operandi, where we just pick out something we really like on our favorite streaming service and binge the hell out of it.

But all of those people are dumb, Charles. We know why they like that stuff, and it's because they're dumb. You're not dumb, so we're confused at your lack of liking JJ.

In my experience, not all smart people necessarily like the same things. Doctor Who ain't my cup of tea. I want to like it. It seems like something I would enjoy. I've tried to watch it multiple times. It just doesn't do it for me. Admittedly I don't dislike it as chaz seems to with JJ, but whatever. It's his life and leisure time. And I do think Twilight and 50 Shades were weak examples because they are bad. I watched the first two Twilight movies to win a bet but I question whether the lunch I got out of it was worth the time watching the movies.
And binge-watching...yeah. I'm as guilty as anyone I suppose. I think more than anything I like the lack of pressure and the convenience. I don't have to keep up with a show week after week and I can watch when and if I have time. That's a big draw for busy folks.

I'll keep watching, I promise.

Hey man, just pointing out that it's diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. One man's merde is another man's marmalade.
Gimme 2 seasons of Daredevil any day of the week - and throw in a Punisher and Luke Cage spin-offs, to boot. Y'all can keep and enjoy your JJ. Me, I need to be in a happier place. I got plenty of depressing in stock, if I need to look for it.

You are a better man than I am, sir. There would have had to have been way, way more in it for me to take up that bet.

That's where I'm at these days. And as far as binge watching, the last show that I greatly enjoyed in this fashion was "Turn: Washington's Spies." I am caught up with the current season 3 at this time. Yay.

Well, I didn't know how bad they were at the time. The bet was season 1 of True Blood versus the first two Twilight movies. It's one of those bets that I won handily but it was a hollow victory. And "Turn: Washington's Spies"? Never heard of it. Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon?

Umm, I can't speak for the players since I don't play anymore. I don't blame you for not going to Greeley. It's not the center of the stink but it's close enough.
