Well, I mean, if you told me about some guy who:

* Was a secret undercover agent working for the Nazis during WW2
* Went on to espouse a lot of policies that Nazis pretty much did, regarding segregation/eugenics (which is what putting Inhumans into camps is like)...

Then yeah, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to go, um... that guy? Total Nazi.

And I have pretty much dropped all my Marvel comics in favor of DC, mostly because of this baloney. Well, this plus the "Hey, the Inhumans released a cloud that's causing all mutants to die... but the mutants are still the villains," story just because Marvel is bitter they sold the X-Men rights to Fox Studios reasons.

This story is as much, or even more so, a callback to what America did to people of Japanese descent during that war.

Also sounds quite a bit like what the Pro-Reg side did during Civil War.

If Marvel just embraces it's grimdarkness into near or actual parody like WH40K I might start picking up more books.

DC lost me a long time ago with ridiculous ret-cons that destroyed decades of stories. Although Marvel has done a bit less of this it "poisons the well" of anything approaching continuity.
Cap a nazi? Sure. Now let's make Daredevil actually be able to see but has just been faking it. Let's make Dr. Doom a philanthropist who is best friends with Reed Richards. Let's make Galactus a vegetarian.

It really seems like writers & editors have no understanding/appreciation for what has gone before. If they don't care, why should we? And if we don't care, there go their profits.

Spencer is certainly doubling down. It is really a boy who cried wolf type scenario. We have had this type of stuff happen so often I can't think of any reason we should believe him now. Especially considering that Age of Ultron, House of M, and some other significant events of this sort aren't Alternate realities any more than this is. In many of these cases, Some sort of reality altering Mcguffin, whether it is time travel, Scarlet Witch, or Kobik, creates an alternate universe that gets a fancy, non 616 number after the fact.
