Originally posted by idiodix I know I'm a little late getting into the discussion, but this is a spectacular show. Even my wife likes it and she couldn't really care less for things of the comic book world. My boys love it, and they think it's cool that dear old Dad likes superheroes.
Outstanding show! Brings families together. How great is that?!
I completely agree. My wife and son and I watch it together. The action is intense enough for adults while not going overboard for kids. The themes are mature enough for adults while not boring the kids.
I just found the Saturday afternoon airing, and I'm thrilled. I only managed to catch a couple of the first season episodes, because it was either on at a bad time for me or else I just couldn't find it. (What is it with TV Guide? They list so many obscure channels, but Cartoon Network which is on almost all basic cable systems, nothing.)
Yesterday's was part two of the Darkseid episode, which I liked, particularly the climactic fight between Superman & Darkseid.

That was the second half of the season premier. You can also catch hour long (2 half hour segments) Saturday at 10-11 EST.
Just finished this Green Lantern intensive episode and I was very impressed.
Not only did it give more life to the one dimensional John Stewart, but it gave a great background story to both earth's current GL...but previous ones as well. I really want to know what happened to Raynor now.
I definitely like how none of the JLA were used as bait pieces...whooped up on in a totally non heroic fashion in order to forward the story. Flash, MM, and Hawkgirl all really shined as heroes.
Is anybody else happy to see Flash race by and beat up on some fodder?
I'm glad the Speed Force let's him survive for several minutes in the vacuum of space!
Actually, the effects of explosive decompression/vacuum are generally exagerated, the difference is only 1 atmosphere. Short-term, you could blow a lung if you hold your breath, and you'll stay conscious for about 10-15 seconds, 30 if you can keep your heartrate down (considering you've just been thrown into space? Not easy). Air will continue to leak from your nose and mouth and moisture on them will evaporate, lowering their temperature to sub-zero pretty soon. The rest cools down too, but not as fast. Fun thing, all your tissues expand and you soon balloon to about twice your volume. No blood boiling then freezing. No lungs being ripped inside out. No head-exploding. Experiments and past experiances by people with vacuums and near-vacuums (although generally not in zero g) have shown that if you can get back inside a pressurized environment in about 90 seconds, you'll not only recover but do so quickly (faster if you have access to the speed force, of course).
An astronaught actually had a punctured glove once. Remember that scene from Alien Resurrection at the end? Pretty much same sized hole. A combination of skin and clotting blood sealed it. He didn't even notice, until he got in he just thought the glove seals were chaffing.
Just a fun vacuum fact.
GL got him pretty fast, so the flash would probably be ok anyway.

I'm liking the new season pretty well so far. I've only seen the complete episodes with Vandal Savage and Despero. I did catch the last few minutes of the Dr Destiny one though.
Nice to see things coming together for this show. Glad I can actually catch an entire story on Saturday nights now. Hated trying to follow it through the week. Whenever that was?!?!?
I'm liking the character interaction too. Not too big on the hinted at GL - Hawkgirl romance that might be coming soon. I liked the Bruce Wayne - Diana scenes though from another episode.
Nice to see multiple GL's ( especially two I'm familiar with! ). Maybe we'll have some more really cool guests show up this season! The current roster is fine with me but I do hope we get to see some more familiar faces helping out now and then.
As for Teen Titans...disappointing. Too anime-ish in it's cutesy stories and style. Too bad it couldn't be done by the same crew that does JL. Anime and Manga has it's place but this doesn't work for me.
Duuuude! The new JLA has some serious bad attitude... I don't want to give too much away, but if you haven't been watching, I have a couple teasers about the newest episode that aired today (november 1st).
1) President Luthor.
2) Flash kicks Superman's butt, with new speed moves.
I've finally gotten to see a few episodes of Teen Titans. I've heard so many people saying they hated it, so I went in with really low expectations, and I have to say, I kind of like it. I don't mind the anime-style of it. It's no Justice League, but I'll probably keep watching both.
TT isn't supposed to be the same thing, but I do find it pretty good in it's way. It's more light-hearted and fun, and if you want a good episode, I recommend the one where Slade takes Robin on as an apprentice.

Now see, that was in fact the first one I saw, so having started off on a good one, perhaps I am more forgiving of any faults the show may have. You're right though. You have to take it for what it is. If you go into it expecting another Justice League, you're going to be disappointed. Taken on it's own merits, it's not half bad.
Last weekend's JLA was probably one of the top three they've made so far. When Doomsday showed up I almost wet my pants. Although they beat him too easily, it was pretty cool to see some of the great moments from Superman #75 come to live.
BTW, the body count has seriously been amped this season. Someone seems to die in almost every episode.
Here's what I've got so far (named characters only):
Darkseid episode: Desaad
Dr. Destiny episode: his girlfriend
Despero episode: Despero, two GL's
Amazo: Amazo's creator (forget the name)
Justice Lords: Flash, Lex Luthor (alternate earth versions)
I don't remember anyone buying it in the Vandal Savage episode, do you?
I once thought Batman:TAS was the peak of American produced cartoons, but JLA and X-men Evolution have surpassed it (although, X-men is still loath to kill anyone).

Anybody remember the Herolympics thread on this site? Good times.
Oh yeah, did anyone else catch the injoke about Batman's combo on the locking device? "91939"
As in, September, 1939, the date of Batman's first appearance? Clever, but probably wasted on most of today's super hero audience.

The episodes are awesome this season. I agree that Doomsday was great to see but for the fact that he was beaten too easily. I think that they really wanted to show off Superman's power though and I can understand that. One question though why was Doomsday talking? I dont remember him doing anything other than growling in the "death" storyline, maybe even grunting out a few words but definately not speaking with intellect. They may have adapted this version from the braniac/doomsday story...any thoughts?????
